Liebman Equine Training Services

Liebman Equine Training Services Traveling trainer and equine blogger with over twenty years of horse experience! I am a trainer located in southeastern Michigan. Riding is supposed to be fun!

I have been riding for over twenty years. I have had the privilege of riding many different disciplines as well as many different breeds of horses, ages, experience levels, and backgrounds. I took about ten years of Hunter/Jumper lessons and then began specializing in Western riding. I have also ridden some beginner Dressage. I have attended two different horse training and riding schools, learnin

g both natural horsemanship and the classical horsemanship methods, as well as horse health and nutrition. I have also worked with many horses that have come from traumatic situations that needed to be rehabilitated. I use a combination of methods as well as my own past experiences to create the best possible outcome for both you and your horse. I tailor my lessons and training to the needs of both the rider and the horse. I enjoy helping people regain their confidence after bad equine experiences. If you don't feel happy when you get on your horse, something isn't right, and it should be addressed. I can also travel to your barn to give you lessons on your personal horse! I can teach beginner to intermediate English lessons, and beginner to advanced Western lessons. I specialize in working with problem horses as well as confidence-building for both horse and rider and working with riders that are easily frustrated. I am an enthusiastic trainer; helping people and their horses is my passion! Email [email protected] for more information.

AQHA Statement Regarding HPA

Dear AQHA Members:

Beginning February 1, 2025, a change to the Horse Protection Act (HPA) will expand the scope of the HPA to allow USDA-APHIS inspectors to inspect horses for intentional soring at all horse shows, exhibitions, and sales. The HPA was originally passed in 1970 to prevent the intentional soring of Tennessee Walking Horses, racking horses and spotted saddle horses.

AQHA is actively engaging the Trump transition team to ensure that the HPA will not negatively affect AQHA and its members. Additionally, AQHA has been communicating daily with industry partners regarding efforts to contest and/or delay the February 1, 2024 implementation of the changes to the HPA.

AQHA will continue to share information regarding details and the process and will pass along that information as more becomes known.

As blanket season is in full force upon us, here is a very important reminder courtesy of the horse doctors at Miamitown Equine Veterinary Services:

"When securing blankets, make sure that the snaps/clips are facing inward, toward the horse! If they are facing out, they can easily become stuck on something, like the hay net in the picture."

Eddie Sweat once told a reporter, "I guess a groom gets closer to a horse than anyone. The owner, the trainer, they maybe see him once a day. But I lived with him worked with him."
While the world was elated with the 9th Triple Crown winner--Secretariat, it was a very sad day for Eddie and Secretariat...it was the day he boarded the plane to Kentucky to start his stud career at Claiborne Farm.
Eddie flew with Secretariat for the last time, shown here, Secretariat nibbles his sleeve and Eddie reassures Secretariat. Charlie Davis also has to be mentioned, as he was exercise rider and so close to Secretariat too!

There’s something magical about being around horses. They have this grounding presence that pulls you into the moment, whether you’re riding, grooming, or just standing next to them. Over the years, I’ve realized that spending time with horses is almost like meditating—it quiets the mind and...
