Today Queen Romanda and her babies were seen at the vet. Queen received her first round of vaccines. The kittens will be four weeks old this week. They are all doing well and are healthy!

Gia (our mama mastiff) and Buzz (our feral dog we have been working with) also went into the vet to get fixed and received their booster shots.
Everyone was so impressed with how far Buzz has come. Sarah Henson has been working wonders with him.
Now, if we can just get Woody to follow suit...

Anyway, we have a couple more appointments this week for a few of the other animals and you all know what that means....it's donation asking time.

Between the vet care we had last week (Gigi went in multiple times for complications with her feeding tube and four puppies and two cats got fixed) and this week, our vet bill is sitting at $1900. We need to get our bill under $1000 before we can take the other animals in this week. Can you help?? Even if a little. If everyone donated a little, it all adds up to make a huge difference.

Donations can be made directly to the vet's office by calling 765 564 3400 and telling them you would like to donate to the rescue bill.

Look who is eating on her own!! ❤️ Gigi said she had enough with the feeding tube and is chowing down food like it’s going out of style! So proud of her 🥰 Hopefully now she’ll gain some of her weight back while her jaw is still healing.

Buzz has had a lot of play time with other dogs lately. All part of getting him more confident and socialized. He’s doing a great job soaking up the sun, walking on a leash, getting exercise, and being awesome 😎 he still gets spooked but he’s come so far already! He is scheduled to be neutered this upcoming week so he can work on in house socialization ❤️

Momma Sabrina is doing a wonderful job!! She never goes far from her babies and makes sure they’re all where they need to be. She started a new medicine to help rid her of her kennel cough that’s still lingering.

And three little kittens were found this morning. Teenage boys that were out playing found them and brought them right in. I’m so thankful that they knew we were a safe place for them!! ❤️ We believe there is one more that we will keep an eye out for and try to obtain. Thank you boys!

Well the last post i personally made was about shutting down intake for a bit because of no money and no space. However, Right after that we were able to get 1 new kennel and pay off out vet bill because YOU guys are awsome!
Then one of our best fosters stepped up to take in Sabrina so we wouldn't have to turn her and her babies away but that also added 9 more dogs to the count that will need to be seen by a vet.

What im getting at is this...
right after getting things paid off with Horizon, we then got several more animals spay and neutered so our bill is back up. Over $1,000 again.
We are also still in need of another kennel or 2 ($400/each).
The vet is our main expense but there are several other cost that go along with running a kennel. For instance, I personally just put $700 into vehicle maintenance for the vehicles we use for the rescue. We need to make sure we can keep things running.

Before I tell you how YOU can help us keep things running, I want to say a huge THANK YOU to Johnson County Humane Society for sharing their extra donations with us. They donated a cargo van FULL of kitty litter. The good stuff too! Over $2,000 worth! We were able to share with other local cat rescues as well.
The Meijer store in Lafayette also chose to answer our request for help and was able to donate a $500 gift card to help with some food.
Thank you Meijer!!!

So we are good on litter for right now but we could still use the hard food for the dogs and shortly we will need more puppy food and potty pads as the new pups grow.

If you would like to help you can do so by giving in one of these ways

EIGHT!! Sabrina is staying strong with eight babies! ❤️ Sabrina is such a good momma. Attentive and gentle. She gave birth like a boss and did everything she was supposed to! We’re so proud of her! 🥰

All babies seem to be doing well. They’re little chunkies! They are all black (with small white markings) except for one almost all white one. Some have really shiny, like silk, coats while others have the wavy hair like mom. Either way they are all adorable and perfect ❤️

Winners of the puppy poll:

Cari Nicole was the only one to guess today’s delivery date.
Six followers predicted Sabrina would deliver eight puppies.
But ONE lucky individual guessed the correct number of females and males. Drum roll please! - Amber Merchant correctly guessed that there would be a perfect split 😊 four females and four males.
Congratulations and thank you to everyone who participated!

Only one person guessed she would deliver today - congratulations Cari!
Six followers predicted she would have eight.
Seven supporters guessed she would have more than eight.

Stay tuned and keep following for another update later!

No babies yet!! Sabrina is taking her time, making sure these babies are good and ready before delivery. She hasn’t really been eating (treats are the exception!) which is common before labor so it’ll be soon!

In the meantime, our four adorable (full of s***k) fellas will be going in this week to be fixed. They are finally big and old enough! Then they will be ready for adoption!! They were popular at our tattoo fundraiser event so get your applications in quick for Little Joe, Big / Busy Ben, McGregor, and Buster!! (A video of the boys playing will be in the comments)

Meet Sabrina 😊 the loviest, sweetest, melt into you pup there ever was!!

She was picked up as a stray and taken to a neighboring shelter. At first they weren’t sure if she was pregnant but as time went on, her little belly got bigger. A lot bigger! She was scheduled for a spay abort (where they abort all babies when they spay the momma, which they can do all the way up to active labor) but as fate would have it, she developed kennel cough which postponed her spay. At her appointment on Wednesday, they suspected Sabrina would deliver in one to two weeks. Sabrina was put on medication for kennel cough and her babies received a small extension. That was all we needed and where we came in!!

We had to do some MAJOR movements but Sabrina (and her unborn babies) are safe in our care now!! When we picked her up Saturday, the shelter staff informed us that Sabrina lost her plug Friday 😳 Which means puppies are coming and it’s time to do a puppy poll!!

When do you think Sabrina will deliver? How many puppies? Girls, boys? Let’s hear your guesses!!

Animal Update! 😊

Tobias: Tobias is doing great! He’s done with his medications and no longer has to be in isolation! He’s still eating several smaller meals throughout the day to get some weight on him. He’s no longer on the prescription canned food but we’re still mixing purina wet food in with his hard food. While we’re mixing his meals, Tobias sits patiently like a good boy and even licks the spoon when we’re done 😊

Gigi: Gigi underwent surgery - twice. The wonderful staff at Horizon were able to put a small wire in for her dislocated / fractured jaw which was tricky due to being an older cat. Then due to her lack of interest in eating, in order for a higher chance of recovery, she needed an esophagostomy (E-tube) tube. Miss Gigi is currently in isolation (so as not to jump and jar something) receiving several feeding tube meals daily.

All little kittens have their eyes open!!

Momma Grey’s kittens are climbing fools! 😊 they take turns climbing up the side of the cage. It reminds us of mountain climbers with the spectators watching from the bottom.

Starlight’s kittens are doing great with their antibiotics. They are sounding so much better! Dracula’s (Dracs as we call him since he reminded us of a baby bat) back feet were curled in when he was born. With multiple exercises, they are getting stronger and straightening out. Hopefully with continued physical therapy, he won’t have any long term effects.

The two kitties thrown from the car are making great progress. Two little girls. They are less claws out, “hee hee hee hiss hiss.” They don’t care for the antibiotics they’re on but that doesnt stop them, they’re still climbing the cage and playing.

Buzz and Woody are still skeptical but are slowly gaining trust of humans. We feel like they would benefit being around other dogs in a home setting who can teach them and who they can receive cues from. With that being said, I’m happy to report that they will be moving to a foster home! Both have shown interest in other dogs so we’re excited for this move!

Denver’s kennel finally broke! 😔 the door is no longer attached. Denver was able to squeeze out and greeted us when we walked in. Luckily the pig was put away, as Denver doesn’t do well with livestock. We were able to move animals around temporarily but if anyone would like to sponsor a new kennel - we’d greatly appreciate it!! Retriever 5x10 from Tractor Supply is what we desperately need!

Coming soon: Sabrina.

This is not a post I like to make and it’s not something I just do on a whim...

All of our intake is shut down for the time being. We are strapped as tight as possible right now.

We have several animals that have been to the vet and several more that need to go but we have a bill that needs to get paid off.
We have other bills that need to get paid as well. Our cat that got attacked by our foster dog has to be seen again this morning because her face is swelling up and making it hard for her to breathe or function.
And to top it all, one of our kennels finally broke all the way around.

We did get a few donations the last time we asked and we appreciate all that support, however a little over $100 doesn’t go far nowadays.

The rescue is running short on funds and we still have several animals that need to be seen or have upcoming appointments!

Starlight’s litter (5 littles) started showing signs of an upper respiratory infection. Luckily they were seen in the early stages and are all being treated. It’s always nerve wrecking when littles start showing ailments and have to be on medication, they can go south really quickly.
The two kittens that were thrown from a moving car? They’re still being worked with, seen, and treated.
We have a senior cat that was attacked by a dog that is going to be seen this morning.
Tobias is on a special high protein diet to slowly gain weight and get his system back on track. He gets several smaller portions daily, along with two different medications.
We have several cats that will be getting fixed and receiving shots in the upcoming weeks.

If you could find it in your hearts to help in any way, everyone at the rescue (including all the animals) would greatly appreciate it. We have several options available for your convenience:

Tobias is going through food quickly. He is on Hills Prescription Diet, Gastrointestinal Biome, Chicken & Vegetable Stew. Would you consider donating some canned food?
