When will people understand that arguing with a rescue or shelter over their policies doesn't make us more likely to adopt to you. We aren't going to suddenly bend or changes the polices just because someone is angry or yelling. Heck, most the rescue folks I associate with will dig in their heels and go toe to toe, or like I've done on occasion, handed someone a stuffed dog and tell them that's all that's suitable to be placed in their home.
Be it policies on fencing, requiring another dog in the home, having verifiable vet references, checking landlord acceptance of certain breeds, or even the fact that we do not do same day adoptions. We have always required an approved application prior to scheduling a visit, that's for many reasons. It gives the potential family time to think vs spontaneous adoption and then having remorse. It gives our volunteers ample time to process the application. And because I've been screamed at more times than I care to count about this, it gives us time to approve or deny an application prior to you promising your child a dog that either won't fit into the home/environment/lifestyle, or that we just can't approve the application because people lie to us all the time.
If you don't like our policies, there are plenty of rescues who don't give a s**t and literally hand out animals like they are a pez dispenser, that is not us.
Our animals do not have a time limit, we only care about placing them in the best possible home where it sets everyone up for success, and hopefully not failure.
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.... some day I'll post some of these emails, messages, and texts from people who think that arguing, trying to fight, or calling names is going to show them in a better light.
Dusty Rose says knock it off or she will kick you... and trust me, she's a kicker.
