🇺🇸 From Client to Family: Meet Walker 🇺🇸

Walker’s story with American K9 is one that reminds us exactly why we do what we do. His journey began when his beloved service dog, Rebel, came through nearly a year of training here at American K9 to become Walker’s certified service dog.

From the very beginning, it was clear that the bond between Walker and Rebel was something special, and so was the connection between Walker and our team. Even after Rebel’s graduation, Walker stayed in touch with our CEO, Krys, Krys’ wife, Casey, and so many of our staff who had been part of Rebel’s training journey. Over time, that connection grew far beyond just business; it became family. ❤️

But Walker didn’t stop there. If you’ve been to any of our big events at the farm lately, from Paws & Pumpkins Fall Fest to our upcoming Christmas Market, then you’ve seen his work in action. The organized parking setup, the clearly marked emergency lanes, and the smooth event flow are all thanks to Walker. He’s become our go-to Event Management and Safety Specialist, ensuring that every guest, vendor, and pup can enjoy the day safely and stress-free. 🚗🚨🎟️

Walker has also found new purpose through the inspiration of Krys’ past work in FEMA and K9 Search and Rescue. Krys accomplished great things in that field and has shared her passion and experiences with Walker, which sparked his interest in pursuing similar work. He’s now attending trainings and seminars across the country, learning more about emergency response and disaster operations, all while being supported by his loyal partner, Rebel, who never leaves his side. 🐕‍🦺🌎

To say we’re grateful for Walker is an understatement. While we cherish every client who walks through our doors, every now and then someone like Walker comes along—someone whose relationship with us grows from training and trust into friendship and family.

So next time you’re at one of our events and see Walker making sure everything’s running smoothly, make sure to stop and say hi. He’s a big part of what makes the American K9 family so special. 🐾💛

AmericanK9 is seeking a full-time kennel technician to join our team! This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who loves working with dogs and animals on a daily basis.

Position: Full-Time Kennel Technician
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM (occasional weekends for events)
Location: Davidsonville, Maryland

Responsibilities:

Care for dogs of all ages, including puppies, adults, and dogs in training

Maintain clean and safe kennel environments

Assist with daily kennel operations

Care for other farm animals, including goats and chickens

Support training staff as needed

Requirements:

Hardworking, dependable, and animal-loving

Positive attitude and team-oriented

Experience with dogs required

🐾 Girl Scout Troop 4157 Visits AmericanK9 & Freedom Ranch Labs🇺🇸🐶

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Girl Scout Troop 4157 to the farm! The girls spent the afternoon learning all about dogs, service dogs, breeding, and whelping and even got to meet some of our dogs in training while touring our facilities.

We had an extra-special guest appearance from Lydia & Reef, one of our incredible Service Dog Teams in Training! Lydia did an amazing job teaching the troop all about Reef and the vital role she’ll play as a gluten detection service dog once fully trained. 🌾🐕‍🦺

We absolutely love being involved in our local community, moments like this truly make our hearts full. ❤️

From the moment you walked through our doors all those years ago, our baby intern, fairly fresh outta college, wide-eyed and full of heart, we just knew you were something special. You jumped into our 6-month internship program with passion, grit, and that boisterous laugh that could brighten even the toughest days.

Watching you grow from that young, eager intern into the growing service dog trainer (and beautiful human) you are today has been one of our greatest joys. You’ve settled into life, found your rhythm, and even recently got engaged 💍 l and we couldn’t be more proud!

Sarah, you’ve become such a special part of our AmericanK9 family. We love being part of your chapters, your milestones, your laughter, and your memories. You’ve left your mark not just on the dogs you’ve trained, but on every single heart here on the farm.
