Did you know in 2024 we saw a ๐ฎ๐ฑ% ๐ถ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ in intakes? Did you also know that we were only ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ-๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ถ๐๐ for 9.3% of the year? To break that down even more, only about ๐ฏ๐ฏ ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐๐ of 2024 did we have enough kennel space to move dogs around, have kennels prepared for new dogs coming in, and staff not spending almost their entire day of cleaning.
Those numbers should alarm you. Our organization cannot continue to have all 71 large dog kennels full at all times.
What does being overcapacity look like for your local shelter? Hereโs a few examples:
1. Increase of poor behavior in animals. Stress, anxiousness, restlessnessโyou name it.
2. Less time for staff and volunteers to devote needed time to specific animals for enrichment, playgroups, etc.
3. Increase in illness shelter wide
4. Less resources we are able to provide the community
5. Less space for those animals that NEED to be surrendered for multiple reasons
By this time you have heard our plea for help time and time again. We are still at capacity. We still do not have any open kennels. ๐ช๐ฒ ๐๐๐ถ๐น๐น ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ต๐ฒ๐น๐ฝ.
Please open your home to a pet in need if you are able to do so. Please donate to the hundreds of animals in our care. Please donate in-kind supplies to help us continue providing comfortable beds, blankets, and enrichment items.
