I called the tannery a few weeks ago already and fingers crossed within the next few weeks I should have my hides back. (I dropped them off in November 🫠)

A big part of taxidermy is waiting... waiting on hides from the tannery, supplies from different company's because they dont have eyes or other parts in stock then once you finally have that... After mounting the deer you have to wait 2 weeks for the hide, clay and glue to dry before adding paint and your final details.

Deer mounts take a lot of work and measurements and waiting. That's why its so common for taxidermist to have a year turn around time.

Another little behind the scene of what goes into a mount. The process of sanding off the thin layer of dried skin on the skull plate. Very satisfying yet messy

Figured I'd make an update since its been awhile!

For all my shoulder mount customers the hides are still at the tannery unfortunately thats something that is out of my control and I can't do anything further until I have the hides back...

I've been working on my clay work around the eyes and earbuds, printing out and studying lost of reference photos.

My last European mount is in the sun whitening today!✌️ I've learned so much doing this process even though its caused me more grey hairs then my child has at this point 😅

Finishing up some shop work. Getting the last of my insulation up, organizing and doing some outside work as well. Including cutting one of my favorite bushes 🥹 But at least I can walk around my shop now!
