Hey everyone! We've been quiet the past couple of years since we were forced to move after our previous landlord refused to uphold our agreement on the Blue Ridge property. We were extremely lucky to find a place to buy in Whitesboro, but the facilities were not – and still are not – ready for more horses.
We are still maintaining several of our foster horses, our 3 personal horses, and the whole herd of goats along with Candy Cane. Everyone has been thriving and are healthy and happy.
Before we take in more rescues, we need to build out our barn (currently just 3 walls and a roof), grade our land to take care of some drainage issues, add an additional driveway and gate, reinforce fencing, and rebuild a bridge to access half of our property. It's a HUGE undertaking and we've had absolutely no luck finding contractors to even get us a quote on most of the projects. As a result, it's up to us to make all of these changes around our normal day-to-day responsibilities. It's been slow going, but we are still moving forward.
We've run into another BIG problem. Recently our truck experienced a catastrophic part failure and is in need of a lot of repairs. Without our truck, we're unable to transport animals in emergencies or for routine care and move things like hay and building materials. Since we've been focused on trying to build out our new facility and maintaining/repairing things – like our horse trailer that we use regularly – there aren't enough funds left for massive repairs on the truck.
We do have a Go Fund Me set up at the link below. Please consider donating to help us get back on the road. Even the smallest amounts are appreciated!
