All of our horses are a herd now ♥️
We have had Momma separate since being here as she came with a foal on her side and then we realized a few months later, she was bred back. Now that baby, Scrappy is now fully weaned they are a complete herd. My momma heart is so happy😍

JJ, Savannah and Bo**er have been so amazing with merging feed time. But look at them staring 😂😂

"Hey, can I have some?"
"You gunna eat all of that???"

Meanwhile, your small and local rescues are struggling. We don’t live off of funds, 100% of everything goes directly to the animals. WE work a full time job to support our sanctuary animals. Please do your research on these BIG rescues and especially the ones who mass bail.

Old age is NOT an excuse for a skinny, suffering horse. Yes, senior horses can be harder to keep weight on. Their teeth wear down, digestion changes, they might need special diets, more calories, or extra care. That should all be consideredwhen buying a horse of any age and is all part of responsible ownership. But when a horse’s ribs, spine, and hips are sticking out, when they’re weak, unsteady, and clearly struggling, blaming “old age” isn’t good enough. That’s neglect, plain and simple.

If a horse is still bright, mobile, and enjoying life but needs extra TLC to maintain weight, then as owners, it’s our job to provide that. But if a horse is too far gone, too weak, too decrepit to recover or live comfortably, then it’s also our responsibility to do the right thing.

Keeping a horse alive just to avoid making the hard decision is not kindness. It’s cruelty.

Our horses gave us their best years. They carried us, taught us, trusted us. The least we can do is make sure they either have proper care or a peaceful, dignified end. No animal deserves to waste away.

Old doesn’t mean starving. Know the difference.

I AM COMPLETELY HEARTBROKEN

to let everyone know Destiny lost her battle. She went down again and took her last breath on this earth in my arms. This isn’t an easy one.

There is no heartbreak quite like saying goodbye to a horse who should have lived a full life but due to neglect and abuse, she couldn’t and didn’t.

I know there was nothing else we could do more and to try would have been unkind… I know that, but it doesn’t make the tears fall any less, the grief any easier in our hearts or the loss any easier to bear.

She didn’t suffer once she came to us…

But she deserved not to suffer before us.

She deserved more.

I’m sorry, Destiny. If love could have saved you, you’d have lived forever.

Rest easy.

None of us will ever forget you.

I know it doesn’t look like much BUT she’s really putting on the weight and loving her food. Filling out, and living the life she DESERVES 🩷
