Nymphaea “Jack Wood” Day blooming non-viviparous. Bred by Wood 1972 . Will over winter in zones 9 to 11. Plant size is small-medium. Flower is raspberry-red, 4” to 5” across. Leaves are green 4“ to 7“ across. Has a 2.5’ to 5’ spread. Best to grow in 6” to 18” of water. Flowers are very fragrant and stand well above the waters surface. You can grow this one in a one, two or three gallon container. Good for earthen ponds as well. Nice very dark pinkish red. Great bloomer and grower. Jack wood could be used for smaller applications. Will tolerate shade especially in hotter climates. Best to grow in full

Nymphaea “Mayla“ Hardy from zone 4-11. Plant Size: Large. Bred by Dr. Kirk Stawn 1993, flower is a pure pink, 5“- 8“ across. Has a spread of 5'- 10', odorato root system. Leaves are green to dark green. Will grow in 1' to 2.5' of water. Best to grow in 1.5' of water. You can use a 2 to 4 gallon container. Flower stands 3“ to 6“ above waters surface once plant is matured. I have just started to grow this plant and it has the potential of being the number one pink. Very large and showy. Appears to start blooming early in the season and should stay strong until the fall. Definitely is one of the top producers. Good for large container or an earthen pond. Think large when you get this one. Full sun

Nymphaea “Tina” Day blooming Viviparous. Bred by Van Ness 1974. Will over winter in zones 9 to 11. Plant size is Medium. Flower is a cup shape purple, 4” to 5” across. Leaves are green 3“ to 7“ across. Has a 2’ to 5’ spread. Best to grow in 6” to 18” of water. Flowers are very fragrant and stand well above the waters surface. You can grow this one in a one, two or three gallon container. Good for earthen ponds as well. Tina’s are very popular because of the purple blooms. This is one of the most dependable water lilies out there. It freezes here about 40 to 50 times a year and Tina’s will still bloom all winter long for us. Will tolerate shade especially in hotter climates. Best to grow in full sun. Another tropical that thinks it’s a hardy.

Nymphaea ‘Sunfire’ is a hardy waterlily. It was created by Mike Giles in 2004. It has flowers that are pink to yellow at center with green pads. It has the same coloration as Nymphaea ‘Pink Grapefruit’ but with much stronger saturation in the colors.Sunfire is a prolific bloomer that can vary from shocking deep red-pink with orange center petals to hot red-pink with yellow center petals ore even almost all yellow ore even almost white!!
br>Factors contributing to the variation in color include, the season, soil, fertilizer, sun, climate, water or even its mood that day. Sunfire will preform best in moderatly fertile conditions and should not be over fertilized. Just enough to keep it green and growing and no more or it will get big and leafy and not bloom well. The flowers will be huge and fantastic but the flower to leaf ratio goes way down. It is a medium size lily but can be confined in a small pot and it will still bloom great. Since it does well in cramped low fertility conditions, novice as well as the experienced water gardener will enjoy!! Sunfire is an excellent bloomer that starts early and blooms non-stop until most other lilies have long ago given up for the year. The color doesn't fade late in the season like all other hardies and tropicals, in fact it may even improve. The flowers tend to open more fully in the fall so you will enjoy Sunfire late into the season!! To quote Mike Giles the hybridizer, "Even with all of the incredible waterlilies I am surrounded by, Sunfire is still one of my all time favorites."

Flower color: generally hot red-pink with yellow center petals but hightly variable
Flower size: 5-8"
Overall spread: 4-6'
Leaf size: 5-7"
Rhizome: Marliac-Odorata
Light: Full sun
Recommended container size: 7.5 qt or larger.
