Everyone from Texas who can please follow the links and submit a virtual card in support of HB 3397 by Kitzman (before Wednesday at 8am—but the sooner the better) your support would be GREATLY appreciated.
AVCA-certification ensures the licensed chiropractor or veterinarian working on your animal has post-graduate specialized training of more than 200 hours which means he/she is well-prepared to recognize a chiropractic issue versus one that requires veterinary medicine. Our proposed bill would allow clients to go directly to an AVCA-certified chiropractor with their pet without the added time and expense of first needing to obtain veterinary referral.
Chiropractic is not veterinary medicine and is not taught as a part of their normal curriculum, so requiring veterinary approval of a non-veterinary intervention often serves simply to add extra hoops for the owner to jump through, often costing them and the animal needing care precious time and added expense. It also causes an unnecessary burden to the referring veterinarian, as it places them in full liability of a treatment they are not providing.
If you will please drop a card supporting this bill and all the animals who need easier access to highly trained and qualified professionals by clicking on the link below. If you are an animal owner, please include comments about why you believe your pet should be able to receive excellent care from properly trained doctors who are professionals and fully capable of determining when a referral back to the treating veterinarian is necessary. Also, if you’ve had positive experiences with me or other certified chiropractors, please share those stories!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for flooding the representatives inbox with positive support for HB 3397. Click the link below and select the proper bill.
