Last year for Thanksgiving, we were living in Texas, Jax (our foster) was still living with us, and we were still in the planning stages of our move to Alabama. Happily, Jax found the perfect family for him before our move!

One thing is still the same. We have a tradition that all dogs get a turkey dinner for Thanksgiving.

This year we will introduce King to our tradition since he is with us for the holidays. He will get his turkey dinner later today. Hopefully he likes it!

Yesterday we saw King for some more leash work. He’s growing quickly into a very big boy, and we want to make sure he understands the “heel” position so he can be handled more easily as he grows into his full size. We will be seeing him again in a few weeks as he will be coming to us for his just before the holidays. He’s going to need a lot of turkey for his Thanksgiving Dinner, and we are ready!

Today we met King Samuel. This boy is a Rottie/Mastiff mix. At his 5 mo checkup this morning he weighed in at 65 lbs, so he’s going to be BIG!

His owner has been doing an incredible job raising him, and she also understands the importance of training him to be the best dog he can be. We are going to be helping them improve their walks by teaching him a nice heel, and help her implement a little more structure at home in preparation for his training program with us. He’s a very smart boy and he was picking things up quickly today.

We are looking forward to seeing him again very soon!

This past weekend we were in Florida for some training with one of our personal dogs, and we brought this little piggy back with us. Stella was just a puppy when she stayed with us initially about 2 years ago in Texas. Now that she’s a “big” girl, she’s back for more training and will be learning all the grown up doggie things!

She’s got quite the side eye, and we are pretty sure she’s thinking all the rules around here are bulls*** right now. That will change once she adjusts to the routine and we show her that learning can be fun!

Bruce Wayne had his last “official” lesson this evening with a field trip to Callaghan's Irish Social Club, and of course he did awesome. Skye was there for moral support and… snacks. She says the 🦐 po’boy was awesome!

We will definitely be seeing them again in the near future for more adventures!

And, of course, today was a perfect training opportunity for Bruce Wayne, so he and his owner joined us for lunch with Pearl and Dutch!

He was very curious about the other dogs, and he desperately wanted to meet them. We are teaching him that he doesn’t need to meet every dog he gets close to, and it’s ok to just hang out nearby. He figured things out, and we will be going on more field trips in the coming weeks.

Pearl: Day 5.

She’s been adjusting well to the routine at home, so today we did some leash work with her and then went for a walk at Medal of Honor Park. She figured out where heel position is very quickly, and she got to experience a lot of new sights and sounds today. We found out she likes to jump, so we did a lot of that to build some confidence. She also received a LOT of complements as to how pretty she is!

Pearl: Dopamine Box - Day 1.

It all starts here. We are increasing her drive levels so she can withstand pressure for the inevitable correction that will come in the future. We will also be building in multiple ways to reward her when she makes the choices we like. Our goal is to help her be a stronger dog so she can do all the big girl things in life.
