This morning we saw Bruce Wayne again. He showed us that he’s got his sit, down, threshold manners, and crate manners down, and his heel continues to improve.

Today we started teaching him to go to his “place”. He doesn’t have a pet cot yet, so we improvised and used his blanket bin! It’s really not about the equipment we use, only that the boundaries of a designated place are clear, and that he understands that staying on his “place” will be rewarded, while leaving that spot before being given his release word will be corrected.

We also started adding in distance and distractions (Alfred is a HUGE helper!), and then we went for a little walk. He was a very tired boy after his lesson.

Next week we will introduce him to the e-collar, and teach his owner how to find the best levels for him as well as how to use it properly to reinforce what he has learned!

Tonight we saw Bruce Wayne again, and he’s clearly been doing his homework. He’s got his “sit” mastered, he’s been working on his crate manners and threshold manners, and his “heel” is coming along nicely.

His markers are clear, so he understands which behaviors will be rewarded (good/yes) and that anything else is “not what we asked for, so please try again” (no). Tonight he started learning the “down” position.

And after all that work? We got in a lengthy play session with some tug and a lot of tummy rubs. We are looking forward to seeing him again next week!

Human interaction in his space, dogs walking through his neighborhood, landscapers and noisy equipment, sounds of firecrackers, gunfire, and loud aggressive dogs barking, growling, and whining. This boy has had an amazing transformation, and both he and his owners have learned a lot of new skills to help them navigate the real world as a team and help Firu be the best dog he can be!”
