OUR FIRST DIBS LIST 🐴✨

We had so many people reach out about Tuff, and he sold just as fast as the messages came in! We had 100+ inquiries, and we truly did our best to personally text or call everyone who reached out. Thank you for that support — it means a lot to us.

The most common follow-up question we got was:
“What else do you have coming available?”

So here’s a refresher on our First Dibs List ⬇️

When you’re on the list, you’ll receive:
• Early notice of any horse coming available — 7 days before it’s posted to the public
• Videos, photos, and full info sent directly to you
• First dibbers get priority to come out during that 7-day window for showings, test rides, or even to purchase before the horse ever goes online
• Same tack bundle deals and full service — just without the rush and competition

If you’re serious about finding the right horse and want the first look, this list is for you.
Message us “FIRST DIBS” to get added 🤍🐎

✨ Horse + Tack Bundle Available ✨

We’re now offering horse bundles to help set our riders up for success from day one.

For $500, you’ll receive (used, but in good shape):
• A saddle we know fits the horse
• A quality saddle pad
• A winter blanket that fits them
• A felt cinch
• A bridle with the bit they are currently riding in
• A halter & lead rope

We have several beginner-friendly horses in, and our goal is simple: success for both horse and rider.

Why send someone home overwhelmed and underprepared when they can leave feeling confident, equipped, and ready to build a partnership? Let’s normalize buying a horse and actually feeling set up, whether you’re a learning rider or an experienced one.

Less scrambling to buy gear.
More time bonding with your new partner.
That’s a win all around. 🐴🤍

❗️Tuff is SOLD🫶❗️

Sorrel Gelding | 15 yrs | 14.2 hh

Tuff is exactly what his name says, solid, steady, and no nonsense. He’s broke to ride, easy to handle, and shows up every day doing his job without drama.

• No kick, buck, rear, or bite
• Trailers and stands tied
• Good ground & saddle manners
• Low maintenance with solid feet
• Gets along in a mixed herd whether its big or small
• In-your-pocket personality, but respects boundaries

If you’re looking for a safe, uncomplicated gelding that doesn’t need excuses or babysitting, Tuff fits the bill.

Merry Christmas to everyone and all our 4 legged family members! 🎅🏻 🌲

I have to drop this conversation below! I appreciate every person and horse I meet with my job! I feel so lucky to be apart of so many horses journeys on their way to finding forever homes, even if it’s just in passing!🫶

But when you get messages like this, especially on days like today when you feel ill, it brings me to tears for all of the right reasons!

Thank you all for letting me do what I do and sending me beautiful updates like this even when you don’t have to!🥲

👀 FIRST DIBS NOTICE 👀

A special someone just quietly made their way into inboxes…
No post. No tags. No noise.

If you’re on the First Dibs List, you get:
• 3-day notice before any horse is publicly posted
• Up to 7 days to schedule a viewing once a new option becomes available

First Dibs members are the only ones who learn about horses that are actually available.
Most never make it to a public post — they’re pre-sold before a single message can be sent.

If you know, you know.
If you don’t… well… 👀🐴

🚫 SUNDAY PSA FROM GONE GRITTY 🚫

We love y’all…
but WE ARE CLOSED ON SUNDAYS.

Not “slow to reply.”
Not “sorta open.”
Not “text me maybe.”

CLOSED.
Like: gates shut, brain cells off, horses vibing, dogs snoring, coffee cold, and us pretending the barn magically cleans itself.

Sundays are the ONE day we get to:
• let the chaos settle
• let our last nerve regenerate
• let our legs remember what “rest” is
• and avoid humans so we can be better humans on Monday 😂

If you message us on a Sunday, just know we’re probably ignoring it while:
• eating snacks
• hiding from responsibilities
• convincing ourselves the horses don’t hear us walking by
• and hoping no one pulls in the driveway because we will not answer the door 💅🐴

Unless a horse is on fire or planning a prison escape?
Yeah… it can wait ‘til Monday. 🤠

Even God said:
“Cowgirls, SIT DOWN before you fall down.”

So yes — your Gone Gritty crew is off-duty, off-grid, and off our rockers, but resting anyway.
We’ll be back to full chaos mode Monday morning.

Closed Sundays.
Resume feral energy on Monday. 🌾🌪️✨

❄️ WINTER MANE & TAIL CARE ❄️

Winter hair care is not about looking cute — it’s about survival.

✨ Rule #1: Don’t brush a dry tail.
Cold hair snaps like twigs. Finger-detangle first, or use a light spray.

✨ Rule #2: Skip soaking them when it’s below freezing.
Wet tails freeze. Frozen tails break. Easy math.

✨ Rule #3: Snowballs aren’t “normal.”
If your horse grows them, braid the bottom few inches only.
Not the whole tail. Not up to the dock. Just the ends.

✨ Rule #4: Keep manes dry and avoid rug rubs.
A mane doesn’t grow back overnight.

✨ Rule #5: Less is more.
Minimal brushing + gentle products = healthier spring hair.

Winter goal: keep the hair ON your horse, not in your brush. 💁‍♀️🐴

❄️⚡️ WINTER FENCE CHECK: ELECTRIC WIRE EDITION ⚡️❄️

Winter doesn’t just test your horses… it tests your fences, too.
And nothing says “Monday chaos” like a dead fence and a horse who suddenly remembers they’re feral. 🐎✨

Here’s your Gone Gritty Winter Electric Fence Guide:

🔌 1. Check Your Grounding FIRST

Cold, frozen ground = weak grounding.
If your zap feels more like a “gentle hug,” it’s probably a ground rod issue.
• Add additional ground rods
• Make sure they’re deep enough
• Keep them moist if possible (yep, winter is annoying)

❄️ 2. Ice & Snow Kill Voltage

Snowdrifts, ice buildup, sagging tape — all of it steals power.
• Keep wire TIGHT
• Regularly knock off snow/ice
• Avoid letting the bottom strand get buried

🌲 3. Clear Vegetation & Contact Points

Winter branches + electric fence = grounding out.
• Trim back shrubs
• Remove leaning or frozen limbs touching wire

🔋 4. CHECK YOUR CHARGER DAILY

Winter drains batteries faster than summer ever will.
• Plug-in units: keep cords protected & dry
• Solar units: clean snow off panels
• Battery units: recharge regularly

⚠️ 5. Use INSULATORS That Can Handle the Cold

Cheap plastic + -20° = shattered insulators.
Invest in cold-rated ones. Your sanity will thank you.

🐎 6. Daily Walk-Through = Zero Regret

A quick fence walk saves:
• Escaped geldings
• Cold sprints across the yard
• Midnight “WHERE IS HE???” panic attacks

💬 Gone Gritty Reminder:

Electric fences work AMAZING in winter… if you stay on top of the small stuff.
Your fence can’t shock a horse if it’s too busy shocking the snowbank touching it. 😅⚡️

❄️ WINTER IS HERE: LET’S TALK HORSE BLANKETS ❄️

AKA: “Should my horse be wearing a blanket or am I just cold?” 😂

Every winter we get the same questions —
What weight? When? Why? Do they even need one?
So here’s the Gone Gritty Winter Blanket Breakdown to keep your horses cozy without cooking them alive.

🧊 WHEN TO BLANKET

Blanket if your horse is:
• Clipped
• Older/senior
• Thin or hard keeper
• Immunocompromised
• Gets chilled in rain/wind
• Has a harder time maintaining condition

👉 These horses benefit from selective blanketing.

If your horse is a woolly mammoth with a great metabolism?
👉 They may not need much at all.

🔥 BLANKET TEMPERATURE GUIDE

50°–40°F: Sheet
40°–30°F: Sheet OR Lightweight
(Totally dependent on the horse’s condition, coat, and the severity of the weather.)
30°–20°F: Medium
20°–0°F: Heavy
Below 0°: Heavy + neck OR heavy stacked with a stable layer (depending on the horse)

Remember:
Wet + Wind = FEELS colder than the temperature.
That’s when blankets make the biggest difference.

⚠️ BIGGEST BLANKET MISTAKES

Avoid doing these unless you want your horse to file a complaint:

• Overblanketing to match YOUR temperature
• Leaving a soaked blanket on
• Forgetting to re-check fit as winter weight shifts
• Layering 3 blankets because they “look cold”
• Using a heavy when a sheet would’ve done
• Straps dragging like medieval ball-and-chain accessories

💬 GONE GRITTY TRUTH MOMENT

A hot, sweaty horse in winter is more at risk than a slightly chilly one.

Sweat + cold air = sick horse.
Right weight + right fit = happy, healthy, comfy horse.

❄️ WHAT WE BELIEVE AT GONE GRITTY

• We check blankets daily
• We adjust by actual need, not looks
• We use sheets more often than people think
• We prioritize comfort and health over matchy-matchy outfits
• We adjust based on wind, moisture, and condition — not just temperature
