After 7 years of service with the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office, K-9 Rev has retired. He played a vital role in taking narcotics off the street, tracking down multiple subjects who fled from law enforcement, all while keeping officers safe with his presence. K-9 Rev will enjoy retirement with Deputy Steinberg and his family as he will get to let loose and enjoy being a dog.
We are glad to introduce to everyone, K-9 Xena. Xena is a 20-month-old German Shepherd/ Belgian Malinois cross from Poland. K-9 Xena and Deputy Steinberg have completed their 200-hour training course with Tree Town Kennels, where they certified in narcotics and patrol. We are excited to have her apart of the department and look forward to utilizing the unique capabilities K-9s provide to our office.

We want to thank the community for the continued support and donations towards our K-9 program.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and the Webster City Police Department have joined forces to create a team of K9 deputies/officers that will serve our communities. Deputy Brandon Pritchard and Moab are with the Sheriff’s Office and Officer Michael Lehman and Chad are with the Police Department. Both the handler and canine are highly trained. They have both been utilized already within our communities.

It is both our departments conscious effort to work together and work diligently to protect and serve Hamilton County and by having two K9s in our community; we can do that more effectively, efficiently, and safely. We are striving to be both more proactive and more visible to the public.

Any questions on either team or how to make donations to either K9 unit can be directed to each individual department.
