With Spring Gobbler season closing in I wanted to put out some prep tips for everyone! 1-4 only matter if you want your turkey head freeze dried there will be artificial options available so don’t stress if your turkey looks like you head shot it with a cannon ball.
1️⃣ Place a paper towel in the throat of the bird.
2️⃣ Wrap the head with a paper towel
3️⃣ Cover the head with a zip lock bag and secure it with a rubber band or tape
4️⃣ Make sure rubber band or tape does not go around the neck feathers
5️⃣ Place the bird in any thick non-scented plastic bag so feathers don’t get damaged when transporting
6️⃣ If you can’t get the bird to me right away put the whole bird in a freezer and try to keep the bird in the most natural position possible this will help with not damaging any of the feathers
7️⃣ Do not breast out the bird I will breast it out for you when you bring it in
Taking the time to do these steps ensures that you get the best quality mount possible.
Looking forward to seeing some successful turkey hunters in the upcoming weeks!
