Cumberland Animal Shelter is looking for kind and dependable volunteers to help transport our wonderful dogs and cats as they take an exciting step toward finding their forever families!

Whether it’s a trip to an adoption event, foster home, veterinary appointment, or another destination, your time behind the wheel can make a life-changing difference. 🚗❤️

Meet Benjamin!

This HANDSOME Mini Poodle an approximately 1 Years old Male that weighs approximately 18 lbs.

Benjamin is an adorable Mini Poodle with the sweetest personality. This affectionate little guy loves being close to his people and is happiest when he's soaking up cuddles, gentle pets, and quality time with his family.

When meeting new people, Benjamin can be a little timid at first. He just needs a little patience and reassurance, and once he realizes he's safe, his loving and loyal personality quickly shines through.

Benjamin gets along with other dogs, but he prefers to keep his food and favorite toys to himself. Because of this, he'll need to be fed separately from other pets and should be monitored around high-value toys and treats to help everyone stay happy and safe.

Benjamin would thrive in a loving home that understands his gentle nature and is willing to give him the time he needs to build confidence. In return, he'll reward you with endless affection, companionship, and unconditional love.

We are incredibly grateful for the amazing people in our community who are coming together to make this special Trivia Night possible! 🎉🧠

This event is more than just a fun day of trivia, food, prizes, and laughter—it’s an opportunity to give back and support two Local Causes that mean so much for our community: The Gentry Family as well as Cumberland County Animal Control and Shelter. 🏠🐶🐱

🐾 𝐀 𝐇𝐮𝐠𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 our neighbors Goochland County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center 🐾

For every underweight or food-insecure dog that comes through our doors, these bowls are truly a game changer.

Not only do they help us monitor how much and how quickly a dog is eating, but they also encourage healthier eating habits and provide important mental enrichment. For many dogs who have experienced hunger or uncertainty, learning that food is consistently available—and that they don’t have to rush or compete for every bite—is an important step in their recovery.

By helping reduce frantic eating and encouraging calmer mealtimes, slow feeders can also play a role in minimizing food-related resource guarding, setting these dogs up for greater success in their future homes.

It’s amazing how something as simple as a bowl can have such a positive impact on a dog’s physical and behavioral well-being.

To everyone who continues to support our shelter through donations, volunteering, and kindness: you are changing lives every single day. We are incredibly grateful to have such a compassionate community standing beside us.
