Rolling Ridge Rescue

Rolling Ridge Rescue Our goal is to help neglected and abandoned dogs and horses. We are located in Cullman, AL. We have been saving animals since 2019.

Rolling Ridge Rescue is 100 % volunteer and foster based rescue organization focused on saving doodle/poodle type dogs. We are dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned dogs who are in Alabama shelters, surrendered by their owners due to difficult circumstances or are in danger of abuse or neglect. We save the dogs that need help the most, the dogs whose time has run out, the dogs who have lost

all hope. All of the animals we house, feed, transport and provide vet care for are funded solely from donations! RRR receives no funds from any state or federal sources. We are just a few people trying to make a difference. We do charge an adoption fee for our animals and an adoption contract must be signed as well. CashAPP $RRRESCUE39

🚧 Concrete Contractor Needed 🚧

Rolling Ridge Rescue is looking for recommendations for a concrete contractor in the Cullman area.
We are preparing to close in one of the lean-tos at our barn so we can create additional space for the dogs, and we need a concrete pad poured approximately 12' x 30'.

The property is located just a few miles outside the Cullman city limits. If you know someone who does quality concrete work, owns a concrete company, or would be interested in giving us a quote, please tag them below or send us their contact information.
We are looking for the best deal possible because, as w/ most rescue projects, our budget is extremely tight. More often than not, these larger projects end up coming directly out of my personal funds to keep things moving for the dogs.

Rolling Ridge Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization so if anyone would be interested in donating concrete, materials, labor, or a portion of the project I will gladly provide a tax-deductible donation receipt. This project will allow us to safely close in part of our barn and create more space for the pups. As always, thank you for supporting our mission and helping us save more lives. ❤️🐾

🚨 SPECIAL PLACEMENT NEEDED FOR BANKS 🚨
NOT AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION

I know it’s long but if you will read it all it will likely answer any questions you may have.

This has been one of the hardest decisions we've faced. Banks has stolen our hearts, but he has issues…what our vet believes is neurological issues along with signs of abuse. We've tried everything we know to do, things our vet suggested, meds, and even placed him in a different environment hoping a change of scenery would make a difference. Unfortunately, while he initially did very well, he eventually had another episode and this time he did successfully bite. All the other times with us he lunged but never went through with the act.

Most of the time Banks is a happy, playful dog. He enjoys people, and gets along with ALL dogs. He is fully vetted. But he has sudden, unpredictable behavioral episodes that appear to be neuro. He goes into spinning after the episode and also his jaw basically clicks. In the past he would lunge and act as though he might bite, but this most recent incident escalated further. At this point, we believe Banks needs someone w/ specialized experience in neurological and behavioral disorders… someone who understands cases far beyond what a typical rescue(like me), foster, or adopter can safely manage. We are willing to transfer ownership to the right qualified person or organization. If you know someone who specializes in complex neurological or behavioral cases, please tag them below or send us a DM.

Videos in comments. First video is of him snapping on my son this week when he tried to put a collar on him for us to walk him. Yet please know at first he let us put a collar on him and a leash. He loves my son too! He gets so excited when he comes in, grabs a toy and is ready to play! He will curl up right beside my son on the couch and let him love and pet him… BUT anywhere from 3 min-20 min later when not even petting or touching he will snap and go into attack mode. The others are of him playing with the other pups here so you can see his personality. He really has a great personality if we can get him over these triggers but unfortunately none are the same nor have the same triggers some absolutely no triggers at all. This week one lady was tying her shoe, he was several feet away and he did it again.

🦮 Other Rescue company/friends 🐕‍🦺 please tag anyone you may have worked with in the past.

Also, before attacking us for something you think we're doing wrong, understand that we are working closely w/ our vet and have been from the beginning when the lady that found him reached out to us. We would not be asking for advice if we didn't love Banks and want what is best for him. The reality is that many people would have chosen euthanasia months ago. Instead, we have spent the last 2+ months trying everything we know to do to help him. We immediately had him neutered, we had everything checked we could think of except a MRI but as a rescue I do not have $3500-5k to spend on him, that would shut me down completely for the year. I am simply at a point where my rescue may not be the right place for Banks long-term. Not b/c we don't love him, but b/c I don't believe we have the amount of time and specialized experience he needs to truly succeed. I currently have 15 dogs in my care, work a full-time job, and have a family that I rarely get to spend time w/ b/c so much of my life revolves around this rescue. None of this is a complaint it's simply the reality of what rescue looks like.

🖤 Update to a lot of questions below 🖤

📣 We do not know Banks' history. 📣

Here is a quick summary of everything we have tried w/ Banks over the past 10 wks

* Gabapentin
* Trazodone
* Prozac
* Wellix Calming Bites
* NaturVet Calming Aid
* Purina Pro Plan Calming Care

In addition, he has had

* Full blood work completed
* Urinalysis completed
* A thorough vet exam under sedation while being neutered, including evaluation of his mouth, ears, tail, back, and overall physical condition
* Several days of observation at our vets office

Yesterday, we also started him on pharmaceutical grade CBD treats along with a CBD oil.

* His behavior is not directed toward one specific type of person. He has exhibited these reactions toward both men and women… 18yrs old to 60yrs old. The concerning part is that the episodes can seem completely unpredictable. He can be friendly, affectionate, and relaxed one moment, then suddenly react aggressively.

* We are also unable to leash him without risking a bite, which means we cannot safely take him for walks. A harness is completely out of the question at this point, as attempting to put one on him would almost certainly result in someone being bitten. Handling his collar, reaching toward his neck, or attempting to attach a leash can trigger an immediate reaction.

* At this point, we are simply trying to determine whether this is behavioral, neurological, fear-based, pain-related, or some combination of factors so we can make the best decision possible for Banks while also ensuring the safety of everyone involved… that’s my #1 priority.

* We do have an appointment Mon. 06/08 w/ an evaluation for him w/ a behavioral modification specialist. I’ll update after that.

I am really trying here, and I hope people can see that. ❤️ I’m not perfect nor am I a behavioral specialist, but I am doing everything I can to help and give him the best chance. TY to everyone who has been kind it means more than you know.

GIGI UPDATE
Look at our precious girl! ❤️

I just had to share this sweet update bc I know so many of you followed her journey, esp. all of our Albertville and Boaz supporters who cheered her on. Seeing her happy and living her very best life makes my heart so full. When her adoption mom sent me this video today, the smile never left my face the entire time I was watching it. 🥹 (I actually watched it 3 times) I miss this sweet girl so much and not a day goes by that I don't think about her. Watching her transform from the terrified dog we first met into the happy, loved pup she is today is exactly why I do what I do. We will forever love this special girl!

Update. We found someone! 👏

BUT if you’d be interested in fostering other dogs for us, please let us know! It would help us tremendously. With the two new litters of puppies currently in our care, I simply can’t bring in any additional dogs for the next few weeks. We definitely need more foster homes to help us continue saving dogs during this busy baby season. Fostering is one of the biggest ways you can make a difference, and the rescue covers all vetting and support while the dog is in your care

We are trying to help a shelter by pulling a doodle mix, but w/ 2 new litters of puppies currently in our care, I really do not need to bring another dog into our place right now. This sweet boy is estimated to be around 7 years old and currently weighs about 65 lbs, though he could stand to gain a little weight. The shelter reports that he gets along well w/other dogs. He is a doodle mix so he will likely shed some since he has a wire type coat. He has clearly spent much of his life outdoors so a secure backyard and safe place to relax would likely suit him just fine. He loves all people and is not a jumper. He has been neutered and will recv all updated shots before being placed anywhere.

We are looking for a foster home for at least 8 wks (until pups can leave the rescue) or until he finds his forever family and is adopted. Please make sure that timeframe would work for you before reaching out. Rolling Ridge Rescue will cover all food and veterinary expenses while he is in foster care.

If you would be interested in fostering this handsome boy and helping us save a life, please send me a DM.
Location Cullman, AL we would like to find someone around the area that wouldn’t mind being available to take him to vet visits or meet us with him if needed.

Lola, Nyx, and Gracie getting a little exercise on the farm. Look at them being real dogs… running, exploring, and splashing in the pond.

And yes, all 3 girls are still available for adoption. If you’d like to learn more about any of them, simply scroll down our page to find their individual posts, or check out their profiles on Petfinder.

Y’all, it’s a Bo! (Just like my personal Beau. ❤️) I may be a little biased, but I promise black Labs are absolutely the best (ours is so easy going, gentle and low maintenance) Someone needs to go scoop up this sweet baby from Brindlee Mountain Rescue. They have several amazing dogs looking for homes, but this one definitely has my heart. (it’s the gray beard 🥹)

We work w/ this shelter, and just look at these numbers... 294 owner-surrendered animals in the month of May alone.

That number is heartbreaking.

People often ask why so many rescues transport dogs to other states. The reality is that Alabama has a serious pet overpopulation problem. Shelters and rescues are overwhelmed w/ the number of unwanted, abandoned, and surrendered animals coming in every single day. When nearly 300 animals are owner surrendered in just one month at one shelter, it's easy to see why local rescues struggle to keep up. There simply are not enough adopters, fosters, volunteers, or resources to meet the need. These aren't just statistics. They are dogs and cats who once had homes and now needed a 2nd chance due to an owner ‘changing their mind’ (majority). Please adopt, foster, volunteer, donate, and most importantly, spay and neuter your pets. Alabama's animal welfare crisis is real, and it will take all of us working together to make a difference. 💔

Spaying and neutering matters. Responsible pet ownership matters. Supporting your local shelters and rescues matters.

📊 May 2026 Shelter Statistics

Owner Surrenders: 294
Strays: 38
Returned Adoptions: 10

Adopted: 45
Returned to Owner: 11
Transferred to Rescue: 135
Euthanized: 94

These numbers represent more than statistics. Every number is a living animal that needed food, shelter, medical care, and a safe place to go. While it is wonderful that 135 animals found safety through rescue and 45 were adopted, the reality is that intake continues to far exceed the number of animals leaving the shelter.

The biggest takeaway from these numbers is that we cannot adopt our way out of this crisis. We cannot rescue our way out of this crisis. We must prevent unwanted litters before they are born.

🐾 Why Spay and Neuter Matters

A single unspayed female cat can have multiple litters every year, and her kittens can begin having kittens of their own at just a few months old. One unspayed dog can also produce dozens of offspring over her lifetime. The result is thousands of unwanted animals entering shelters and rescues every year.

Spaying and neutering:
✔ Prevents unwanted litters
✔ Reduces shelter overcrowding
✔ Decreases euthanasia rates
✔ Improves overall animal health
✔ Reduces roaming and some behavioral issues
✔ Helps reduce the number of homeless animals suffering on the streets

🐾 How You Can Help

• Spay and neuter your pets.
• Support TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) efforts for community cats.
• Adopt instead of buying when you're ready for a pet.
• Foster for local shelters and rescues.
• Volunteer your time.
• Donate toward spay/neuter programs and transport efforts.
• Share posts of adoptable animals to help them find homes.
• Encourage friends and family to have their pets fixed.

Every animal prevented from entering the shelter system is one less animal competing for limited kennel space. Prevention saves lives.

The shelter staff, volunteers, fosters, and rescue partners work tirelessly every day, but lasting change starts with responsible pet ownership and widespread spay/neuter efforts.

🐶🐱 Together, we can help ensure fewer animals enter shelters and more animals make it home.

🩷 Blaire Found Her Human 🩷

This sweet girl officially has a forever home.
Blaire Bear has nothing but spoiled days ahead, and we couldn’t be happier for her. Her new mom first met us at the Strawberry Festival. I am so glad we were able to make the perfect match for her. Blaire is happy no matter what but I know happier days are ahead!
