Julyyyyy!
Began the month with the last few bouquets and flower stand before a short break…then worked all through the break 😆 lots of babysitting seedlings, seed starting, transplanting, clearing beds, watering, shade cloth for the baby plants, more watering…you get it.
It’s been nice to take a little break from flower stand, but I’m eager to get flower to you again! The zinnias didn’t seem to get the memo that we were waiting until August to make bouquets again, so they started blooming and I’ve been able to harvest a couple bouquets from them and the other various little things still blooming through the last couple weeks of heatwave. Speaking of which, it’s hot. Like sweating in the morning hot. But the twinnies have made sure that we cool off with popsicles every afternoon. Treasure. Made a TON of new flower friends on social media. Watched the Bermuda grass laugh at me as it grew up through the beds I so diligently removed sod/grass rhizomes from. Enjoyed the basil and echinacea.
Hope you’re ready for August, because it’s going to be amazing!

Like, WHAT?! We hit a huge milestone and passed 1k followers on the farm page last week!!!
If only you could have heard all the “this is so cool/fun/exciting/*hopping up and down*” comments I’ve made to Timmy the last two weeks!
I’m so grateful and excited you’ve chosen to be in our little corner of the interwebs! I hope the page blesses you whether you enjoy the flowers in person or online 🥰

THANK YOU!!!
Ellen

This week’s ✨midweek sparkle✨ is one of the last special order bouquets I did before I closed for the break. Aren’t these colors soooo summery??!
I usually try to take pictures of bouquets by myself, but sometimes a little “helper” follows me. This one in particular loves to touch and smell to make sure your flowers are extra special 😉

Welcome to Q&A day at the flower farm! I consider these my FAQs, so I figured I’d just post ‘em for ya. I’d love to answer anything else for you if you’ve got questions! Let me know in the comments or send me a DM 😊

Q: Do you offer tours or workshops?
A: Not currently. Being a micro farm, there isn’t much to “tour.” Maybe someday when we expand (when the kids are older 😅)…If you come for a flower stand you’ll be able to see almost all the growing space since it’s in our front yard.

Q: How much do bouquets cost?
A: At the flower stand I try to have a range of sizes and prices. Usually $3-27. For special orders, I have a small bud vase ($4.50), a medium ($15) and a large ($27). There are pictures of each of these sizes pictured below. Just know that these are approx size references. The exact flowers will be different during the different times of the year.

Q: Can I do a photoshoot in your flowers?
A: We don’t currently offer photoshoots, but you are welcome to snap some pictures from the driveway or with our farm sign! I love seeing your pictures of our flowers!

Q: Are the cows in your pictures yours?
A: They belong to the neighbor! Tim says it’s ideal because we get to enjoy them with none of the work 😆

Q: Do you do weddings?
A: Well, let’s clarify. An elopement/small wedding where you would only need a few arrangements and are flexible with what’s available that day? That could work! I don’t currently do large events. It mostly depends on how flexible you are with what’s available and how many arrangements you need.

Another episode of Mini Farm Tour today! I think I’m setting a record for shortest yet! The last three in-ground beds don’t have much going on in them right now, but over the next few weeks they will get fuller and fuller!!
I’ve mentioned this a few times now, but I’m growing some vegetables for our fam in some of the garden beds. Would you be interested to see some of the extras at the flower stand? Let me know in the comments!

These cheeky zinnias seem to have ignored me when I said we were taking a brake until August 22nd 😆

Keep your eyes peeled! I might have a few small bouquets available in the next few weeks for pick-up.

Still planning to reopen the flower stand towards the end of August!

I’m also going to be harvesting from this gomphrena for dried bouquets for the fall. They will be available at the farm stand when we open back up. AND (as a little teaser) I’ll have more mini dried flower wreaths available in November as a holiday gift offering! So cute as a teacher gift or at an ornament exchange! (See them in the photos from my post yesterday).

If you’re a crafter and want a fresh little bunch of these puffy little gomphrenas, let me know!

One of my favorite little funs for bouquets: gomphrena, AKA globe amaranth.
It’s so cute and whimsical and I love the fun texture and pop of color it brings to summer and fall bouquets!
It is also a really beautiful and useful dried flower.
Here are some bouquets with it as a fresh flower and some dried flower wreaths I had as holiday gift offerings last Christmas.
Have you gotten any gomphrena in a Henbit Acre bouquet?? What did you think?
