OUR MISSION
Rescue. Rehabilitate. Re-home. Repeat. Drifter's Hearts of Hope is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization committed to circumventing the horse-slaughter pipeline. OUR HISTORY
In 2014, Drifter's Hearts of Hope was founded to give at-risk horses a second chance at a forever home. The organization's namesake is a papered Quarter Horse: a champion roping horse who ended up as a stray after an i

njury. He went from being found on the side of the road to the heart horse for the organization that would become Drifter's Hearts of Hope. HOW TO HELP
With the dedication and ongoing support of the community around us, DHOH continues to increase it's reach and impact in the horse community. We've seen many of our rescues go to wonderful loving, forever homes, all through the efforts of the members and supporters of DHOH. Want to get involved and help us save horses? Check out our How to Help page, make a tax deductible donation , or contact us today! The Annie Project, Founder
C Lazy U decided to take the auction out of the equation and, in the summer of 2017, started sending Drifter’s Hearts of Hope the horses from their herd that were no longer good fits for their program. These horses were various ages, some older, some just into their teens, but all could not continue as working dude ranch horses. They could still be amazing pleasure horses, and we found each horse had amazing qualities that potential adoptees were enamored by. We found all of these horses homes within weeks of their arrival to our rescue. We decided to call our program "The Annie Project" in honor of Annie. We have now expanded our program to the Colorado Dude and Guest Ranch Association and have already enrolled several more dude and guest ranches and we are working on expanding our reach throughout the state, neighboring states, and one day, the nation! The Right Horse Initiative, Adoption Partner
As a partner in The Right Horse Initiative, we’re proud to support a national movement reframing the conversation about equine adoption. The Right Horse Initiative is a collective of industry professionals and equine welfare advocates working together to improve the lives of horses in transition through a dialogue of kindness and respect. Drifter's Hearts of Hope is working with The Right Horse Initiative to promote the bond between horses and humans. We are good people for good horses, and everyone who loves horses has ownership in this movement. To learn more about The Right Horse Initiative, visit www.therighthorse.org.

DHOH “King” 🐴👑

Sweet, SWEET King is unfortunately looking for a new forever foster home due to some unforeseen circumstances his current foster home is experiencing.

King is in his 30’s but in remarkably good shape for his age. He can still carry small children around and he’s very safe and reliable. He is a retired dude ranch horse that came to us through the Annie Project quite a few years ago (He came with Bailey and Jake) 👑

His current maintenance is soaked senior, Equioxx and he’s on a gut/joint supplement that we will continue to supply. We will also cover his Equioxx and major medical vet bills. 🥰

He’s low man in a herd setting but loves being out and about and can still graze.
Ideally we can find him a new foster home with a prior adopter but will consider new applications also. 🐴

Please reach out if you are interested in giving King a forever home. His current foster mom will be heartbroken to see him go but also knows it is what is best at this time ❤️

A few of us were reminiscing the other day about some of the fun times we had on the ranch. We worked hard and saved hundreds and hundreds of horses… but once in a while we played hard too! Here’s a fun memory ofJonathan Nye taking a plunge in the stock tank. Hopefully no fish were injured! 🤣💁🏻‍♀️💦🐟🐠

A few more pics of our Bailey! She still loves to hit the trails… she led all the way! 💗
