Please keep your fur kids safe during fireworks. More pets go missing during July 4th festivities than any other time of year :(.

In the past I've used Rescue Remedy to calm my dog during the fireworks, but I'm finding that it isn't effective enough as she gets older and more sensitive, so I asked my veterinarian and she suggested melatonin.

Melatonin relaxed Isabelle a lot during the last fireworks blowout here in L.A., but she seemed a bit groggy the next morning, so I'm going to try the amino acid, L-Theanine. Vets have been using L-Theanine with great success for anxious pets.

L-Theanine is wonderful for general anxiety, separation anxiety, and loud noises, like thunderstorms and fireworks. It has also been known to help dogs with aggression towards strangers, other dogs, and children.

L- theanine is an amino acid (Suntheanine is the purest and only source of synthetic L-theanine that I recommend and use). I take it myself and it is wonderful for mild anxiety and stress.

Suntheanine has no known drug interactions, side effects or any limit of duration of administration. As opposed to some of the other relaxation promoting ingredients on the market, Suntheanine promotes relaxation safely, without causing drowsiness.

DOSAGE: L-Theanine is effective at 50-200 mg and its positive effects are exhibited within 30-40 minutes of consumption.

The KEY is to give L-Theanine BEFORE your pet's agitation from stressful situations starts to peak. That means giving it to your dog or cat about 30 minutes before the first firework goes off or before the storm begins to rumble!

CAUTIONS: Some brands of Melatonin and L-theanine contain xylitol, which is very toxic to dogs and cats and can be deadly!

Please be cautious on the increase temperatures!! We want to make sure that all our fur- babies have plenty of water and a cool place to lay if outdoors. Heat stroke is very real! Try to take extra measures to insure all animals are being walked early in the morning and late in the evening. Things you may want to watch out for is excessive panting, lethargy, unable to cool off, vomiting. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Happy Easter!!!

I found this sweet girl on June 27th near Soell and Mire streets right off of 59 in Abita Springs. She is not chipped, but she has a collar on which is blue and tan stripped with a metal clip. Please repost so we can find her owner. Thank you and bless you! Ann 985-302-2891
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from my Nemo & Baby Belle❤️ We love you guys❣️
I thought Dr. Saylor and the Crew would like to see how Miss MaryJane is doing.
Just wanted to share with you guys my fb post from Monday: I’m still a little in shock. We had to say goodbye today. Never could I have ever imagined how perfect this dog would be. From day one she fit right in as if she had been ours forever. I don’t know why we were only fortunate enough to have her for one year, but I’m thankful for it. Annie lived for food, super snuggles and sleeping on top of pillows. She loved being with J and his friends while they played Xbox. She was the quietest, calmest, sweetest dog I have ever encountered. Her vet loved her so much that I’m not quite sure how to even tell her. I can’t wrap my head around it all, but I know that what we do have are great memories and a thousand pictures. I know what we gave was unconditional love, and food and snuggles and pillow time. There’s one less tail wagging in the Ruiz house today and four broken hearts ❤️ you Foxy Roxy
Found: small B&W female terrier at the park on 15th st in Covington yesterday. She is very sweet, collar but no name or chip. We are contacting local vets in hopes that someone will recognize her. if you do please contact 504-252-8870
We were back here today to have one of our Ratties seen to have an abscess cleaned, and Dr. Saylor and staff took awesome care of us as usual. They ALWAYS take such good care of our furbabies when we come here. They are kind, patient, will listen to your concerns and address them, and are just an all around wonderful clinic to bring your babies to! We cannot recommend them highly enough!!
Thanks for the cuddles, Thompson!
UPDATE: REUNITED WITH OWNERS 😊 Found in Normandy Oaks subdivision this morning Mary Richard Byrd
