This mare's name fits here as I knew it would the day she was born. Her dam is the last daughter known still alive by Freeway Foxy by Sir Quincy Dan and has Quincy Dan on her papers; she came off one of the largest Tri-State OR, NV, UT ranches in the country coming in just under 2 million acres at one point and the Matt Hyde is still riding one of her sons today. Smokin Fox is by JHB Double Driftwood 27.34% Driftwood, senior Driftwood Stallion & base mare producer. He's a spitting image of Driftwood himself in size, height, color and has the same innate ability to stamp all his foals with the desirable Driftwood genetics & traits. She and her full sister BrknSpur PinUp Vixen took after Dbl D but with that Quincy Dan influenced head and heavier substance. Sundance will compliment her by infusing heavier bone, tendon, muscle & increase foot diameter all without taking away from her Quincy/Driftwood Type head and neck set. No matter the s*x the foal will be no doubt one super flashy, athletic powerhouse fully capable of working ranch duties & arena performance.

Couple days away from turning 2 months old in pics. Late foal that we were doing everything we could to save as Ladies Lucky Blanton developed placentitis and we had a month to go to hit 330 days safe zone. He arrived healthy & on his feet lick-Idy-Split & ready to eat on day 341. Lady was a champ through the process with all the poking, prodding, ultrasounds & taking meds. She has a year off from breeding to refresh. My son Mark Letteriello is responsible for breeding this future 20 year plus LB genetic treasure with a very low COI. He was bred in Molalla and foaled here at the ranch in Cove, Northeastern Oregon. We'll let him grow and develop and decide his future when he turns 2yrs old. We're both dedicated to preserving LB for future generations and getting this bloodline it's due recognition back on top in the arena all over the country where it still belongs. Nobody in the Quarter Horse World especially in the arena should have a blank look on their face when Lucky Blanton is mentioned.

Brought Smokin Fox up to a side pasture to visit Prairie and add a little more adult discipline to get Shady ready for the gauntlet of pecking order she'll go thru when introduced back into the brood band for the first week or so. Sundance at 20yrs old wrapped up his 2025 breeding season with 100% in foal 30 day plus confirmations of his 9 mares covered for 2026 foal crop. # 10 just wouldn't get good edema and wasn't having it. Being a son of Short Go Luck, you wouldn't expect less. He represents the size and power of his sire, grand sire as well as Lucky Blanton himself. I am willing to take in Dry Quality outside mares from other breeders to help preserve the Lucky Blanton bloodline as long as we're not creating a detrimentally high inbreeding coefficient.

Huge bay roan 22.27% Driftwood that you don't see very often being that much Driftwood blood. Being out of Button and Dbl D there was no doubt he'd be an exceptional ranch/rope horse when he hit the ground.
Sandi Velke-Wahl has had him from a weanling and made on heck of a go-to mount out of him. She has always kept us updated with his progress over the years. As a breeder there's nothing better than knowing that the horses you create are fulfilling their breeding purpose and have earned fulltime jobs working the difficult Big Country mountainous ranches here out west while still being more than capable of winning in arena performance events.
Thank You Sandi for all you've put into making Deuce such a great working ranch horse that he was bred to be.

-Breeding for the true All-Around Using Quarter Horse-

Emma Patten & BlueWoodLena PepyJack, AKA: "SUPER FRICO"
These two just keep on accomplishing everything you can imagine with a quarter horse. Besides running barrels, poles, cutting, roping, ranch trail, English and HS Drill Team back up horse for the team Emma coaches now; with just a few days of practice on reining patterns they go into the Rouge Reining Horse Association and bring home 2nd place in the Novice, 5th in the Ranch Riding Non-Pro. They were competing against accomplished Reiners and Horses that are bred specifically for reigning. If you judged this horse by his breeding and stature, you'd say he couldn't compete in reining events let alone go into a show for the first time with limited exposure and beat out high end Reining bred horses and professional trainers. Emma was pulled aside and praised by top trainers that couldn't believe how smooth and effortlessly he moved through collected lead changes. Super Frico is a 16.1 hand, Sledgehammer of a horse that's bred and built to yard on full grown stock day in-day out for a living yet be flexible in all aspects of performance and a using mindset/demeanor youth to professional. If this breeding program focused strictly on papers and the latest fad to keep up with the Jones's our horses would not be truly multi-faceted all around working quarter's; they'd be event specific with an isolated window of performance and a limited build type structure.
The following weekend they entered into a cattle sorting that they never practiced and won the jackpot.
Not bad for the first solo test foal by Worthy Ofa Driftwood and proves the point that the general current practice of breeding strictly by papers matching an event (barrels, roping, reigning, etc.) is not the answer; it's the destruction of what used to be the All-Around Quarter Horse.
Emma, your work ethic and enthusiasm is bringing out everything Super Frico was bred for and more. Soo proud of you!!

Update!! She had a big healthy stud c**t, looks to be bay. We got really lucky on catching the red bag starting day 220 and hitting her with a round of Exceed I keep on hand, with twice a day SMZ's until foaling at 341. Lady did a great job and delt with all hands-on deck in case she or the foal needed help.

Had a possible red bag situation starting to show a couple weeks ago on the 220-day with some bloody discharge. Seem to have it under control keeping fingers crossed and meds twice a day. Passed the 330-day safe mark so no more banamine just antibiotics twice a day. There is the possibility this could still become a red bag so when she gets really close it's a 2hr on and off someone right there in case the foal needs cut out of the placenta. This is the first time we've run into this, and I hope this will be the last.

I let a full sister go to these 2, first foal by Purdy taking for granted that she would be producing foals for us another decade easily. Keeper went down to a rancher in Burns Oregon and his 13yr old daughter was roping calves in a pen on her ride #5; have the video) Tragically we lost Purdy to a hind gut impaction with a full brother she was carrying 2 yrs ago to these fillies. The loss of Purdy still rips all of our guts out and I am thankful I held onto Timber and Prairie. I have the full sister to Purdy in Liberty. Sundance Blanton in these filly's future when ready to breed.
