Need a fuzzy little friend for Christmas?

This cute little fuzzball was this years Craigslist fail.. lol what was supposed to be a harlequin is not a harlequin.. however I had a friend transport and they arrived late last night. So..

No clue on the actual breed, I am assuming lion head mix of some sort, ears are long and look like they may flop. So could be a fuzzy lop. It is a doe, and is pretty friendly, doesn’t really mind being held. Will take what I paid (cheap) CORRY PA

Please. Don’t be this person.

I do not meet people. I will not be bribed with gas money to meet somewhere, and I will not feel like a bad person because I choose to do things this way. I also dont post the “drama” here because i try to keep this space a happy place. However this is an awareness post of what not to do.

For a little context this person was looking for birds, and I offered mine to them. Comments are as followed 🙄

SOLD: 6-7 Laying Hens (will have to count)

Green and light brown layers. Looking to keep as a group. Will not separate. MUST TAKE ALL.

2023-2024 hatches. All laid well for me this summer. These are birds I have selectively bred over the last several years for a fibro project. Switching directions next year and have no need for these guys anymore. Will be sent to freezer camp if not sold.

There has been some changes to the homestead this week. Sometime Sunday afternoon/evening we got a visit from a fox. Unfortunately that visit resulted in the loss of 3/4 of our chicken flock.

I have spent that last years breeding/hatching lots of different breeds. Now that I don’t have the birds to justify breeding or an incubator to be hatching, I will be taking a step away from the hatchery for a while. We do have a nice group of royal palms that are safe (the fox won’t be back 😉) we will have lots of hatching eggs available next year. I will replace our flock in the spring, but it will likely take me a few years before I have anything available for you guys.

In the mean time, tell me your favorite standard/large fowl breeds! My favorite is the Turken, they make for a great conversation piece..

Don’t worry about the nest box, they were moved into a fresh box right after this video.. ☺️

These guys are F1 Japanese Harlequins. This particular cross is from our very own TLR’s Artemis (black magpie) bred to Lucas Farm’s 2D (New Zealand Red) these guys are the reason I am done breeding New Zealand’s. I enjoy harlequins so much more!!
