Remember when Ava kindly told me to “go fly a kite” when I would try to get her to work for her food? 😅 Look at the transformation from her first week, to her last week. So proud!

If your dog is struggling with motivation, let’s start training together! 🐶

I’m also so happy to report Ava’s (Ava is now Clio) foster parents let me know they will be going forward with adopting our favorite brindle girl! 🎉

Congrats Clio and family. ❤️

And shout out to Ava’s first board and train, The Dog Tribe Co. for helping get Ava/Clio to this point also! 🐾

Welcome Rosalita! 🌹

Rosalita is our newest foster & train! ☺️ Majority of Rosalita’s life has been spent in high-intake municipal shelters. 😕

She’s a fearful girl that’s finally getting the chance to learn what it’s like to be in a home. Rosalita has spent the last week conquering her fear of the leash. Biggest goal I have when it comes to fearful dogs like Rosalita, Ava, Texas, and so on is….play. Taking food from me is always the important step number 1, but play is when the real momentum comes! And last night that breakthrough shone its little light with me, Rosalita, and a mallard duck toy. 🦆

Can’t wait to see what this week brings with Rosalita! ❤️

Hope everyone had a great holiday! Now it’s back to it! 🐾

Availablilty is going to be tight for December, so get on the schedule for private sessions asap! ❄️🎄

Also wanted to give a shout out to this awesome mom and pup duo! Nocturne and his mom have been doing private sessions and this was Nocturne’s first field trip. 🎉 Look at this handsome boy killing his obedience in a totally brand new enviroment. Nocturne’s mom works hard to be a clear communicator so Nocturne understands what is expected of him even in brand new situations. Go Heather & Nocturne! 🐾

Happy Early Thanksgiving! 🦃

Everyone wish Ava the best of luck and keep your fingers and paws crossed for her! Today Ava left on foster to possibly adopt. 🥲 Nothing but good reports so far and her new family has been visiting with her the last couple of weeks and they are amazing so I am optimistic! ❤️🤞

It’s always hard to say goodbye to dogs you grow a bond with, but I can’t be selfish and keep all the good dogs to myself and we have to keep space open to continue helping and saving more. ❤️

Best of luck Ava! I’m excited to introduce our newest foster and train in the next few days!

Ava! ❤️

Doggie playgroups! 🐾

What better way to practice reading dog body language and steering dog on dog interactions than volunteering at a local shelter or rescue!

Recently a client and I, who is also a shelter volunteer, stopped by the shelter to do some doggie playgroups. My client hopes to eventually be able to foster. We’ve been working with the personal dogs in the home and they’ve been doing great. Now it’s time to train the people what to look out for and how to steer interactions without unintentionally tossing fuel to a potential fire.

If you’re looking to build skills and experience as a handler, consider volunteering at your local shelter!

Pinal County Animal Care & Control has drop-in volunteering everyday from 7am-10am. Making getting involved as easy as possible! 🙂

Happy Birthday to the baby of the family, Canela! 🥳🐾The first picture is her county shelter mugshot. 😭😂📸

Ava is back in my care. 🥲 But that’s okay, Ava is a such an easy going girl and a joy to have around. ❤️ But in order to help other shelter dogs, we have to find Ava a home of her own. 🏠

Here’s all the things you should know about Ava:

✅ Can live with men, women, and children.

✅ Can live with dogs of all sizes.

✅ Ava’s likes: sunbathing, naps on the couch, and neck scratches.

✅ Ava loves going on walks.

✅ Ava does well greeting new people coming into the home.

✅ No potty accidents.

✅ Learning her basic commands.

Ava is such a great family dog and as resilient as they come. Ava comes from a traumatic background of being rescued from a hoarding case then subsequently lived at the shelter for over a year.

Ava’s one “negative” if you can really even call it that, is you have to earn your relationship with Ava and her trust. Any adopter will need to put in the effort to provide Ava with structure, guidance, and work on gaining her trust in the first week. This is all easy to do with a daily routine that includes walking her, follow the leader, hand feeding, and down time in her crate. After that, you get the ultimate reward of a loyal companion that is easy, gentle, smart, and friendly.

Ava comes with free post-adoption training and her crate. ❤️
