Well, it's May 23rd and I'm wearing a winter coat, hat, and gloves to go outside 😐 SO, I'm looking back on warmer times to prevent insanity πŸ€ͺ

This time last year we were in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge of Oregon. We camped on top of a mountain biking trail system and got to bike every day, completing our first black diamond (very slowly 🀣)

We only crashed a few times...🚲πŸ’₯

Here's to dreaming of warmer weather and sunshine! 🌞

The Dirtbags made a trip to Zion National Park! We left the furbags at home since we flew out, which let us do a lot more hikes and explore more without worrying about getting back to the van or worrying about the temperature.

Last time we traveled through Utah in Big Red, we skipped Zion, Arches, and Canyonlands because they are not dog-friendly, so this trip was a lot more immersive than our usual National Park experience!

Zion was beautiful. Towering red sandstone cliffs, meandering rivers, deep canyons, chirping and skittering wildlife, and views for days. We got super lucky with the permit lottery and were able to do both the Subway and Angel's Landing while here.

Stay tuned for a closer look at this outstanding park!

Happy 13th Birthday, G!! You are my soul cat. You've traveled to over 30 different states, 2 countries. You've seen mountains, deserts, oceans, and rainforest. You've hunted mice, lizards, chipmunks, grasshoppers, and squirrels. You even tried to hunt a deer and desert fox. I can't wait to see what adventures are to come this year!

Here's to many more years of adventuring ❀️🐾

Heading to a National Park this summer with your dog? 🐢 Check out our National Park Dog Policy guide to see every policy of every National Park in the United States! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

In this guide, I go over which parks are dog-friendly, what trails they're allowed on, and any other pertinent information about bringing pets to the park. 🐾

Check it out here πŸ‘‰

The most dog-friendly National Parks include Petrified Forest, Hot Springs, Great Sand Dunes, Gateway arch, White Sands, Cuyahoga, and New River Gorge.

A year ago we were hanging out in Kaibab National Forest just outside the Grand Canyon. It was an awesome boondock spot in the forest where we saw some deer, elk, squirrels, and plenty of chipmunks. No one around for miles and nothing disturbing the quiet night except crickets and coyotes.

The Grand Canyon was, of course, GRAND. But one of our favorite things about it is that dogs are allowed anywhere above the rim of the canyon, so we were able to watch the sunrise over the canyon with our furry sidekick.

Hiking season is here! If you're like us and you love bringing your dog on adventures, check out our guide on what to bring on a hike with your dog. 🐢

I cover gear ranging from the bare-bones essentials to a luxurious canine experience. I go over everything you should pack in your hiking bag for your furry companion to keep them safe and happy on the trail. After all, we want to keep their tails wagging, right?!🐾

Check out the article here πŸ‘‰

A leash, collar/harness, water, water dish, and poo bags are the bare bones of what you should bring on a hike with your dog. Additional equipment includes training treats, a food dish, extra food, a mat, a tick remover, a medical kit, an airlift harness, a towel, and a post-hike treat.

πŸŒ„ Epic views. Rugged terrain. Jagged mountains. Underground caverns. New Mexico had it all, and it certainly stole our breath and our hearts with all of its beauty and majesty.

Check out our YouTube video for a look at our adventures in one of our favorite states!

Pawdrick wasn't a big fan of the cactus spines, but he loved all the open land to run, explore, and, of course, new smells and things to p*e on πŸ˜† G was secretly impressed with all the rocks she could climb on, but she wasn't about to admit her admiration of anything 😼

Thinking of Luna today on her birthday. She would have been 13! One of the original furbags that kick-started vanlife across the US.

In a lot of ways, I wish I were a little more like Luna. She never took any s**t, smacked you if you were annoying, and knew how to nap in the sun like a champ.

Cancer sucks, but I know her adventurous spirit still lives in us, encouraging us to keep traveling and seeing this beautiful world of ours.

Spring is officially here, and the Dirtbags (and their furbags) are ready for adventure. Here's Pawdrick getting ready to cross the Swinging Bridge in Cook Forest, PA. It's true to its name, swaying as you walk across. Pawd wasn't happy about that, but was brave enough to make it across, on three legs no less!

Cook Forest is definitely one of our favorite places to hike in PA, but we're ready to branch out! We've never been to the east side of PA - let me know your favorite hikes out that way and maybe we'll give them a try this year!

Also, if you're looking for the best trails in Cook Forest, head over to our blog! We have a TON of articles on Cook Forest and the surrounding area. πŸ‘‰https://www.dirtbagswithfurbags.com/
