Well, we have gotten the news back on Rodney and it isn't good. He has Severe Pulmonic Stenosis, Tricuspid Valve Dysplasia and is in Congestive Heart failure. Basically his heart is a mess. He would need two heart surgeries to try to fix his heart. The first one is a newly developed surgery with a success rate of "okay" and having that surgery would make his second surgery more complicated, but still needed. The price tag could be up to $20,000 with no guarantee of a longer life than not doing the surgeries. We have decided to spoil him with the time he has left (6 months to 3 years). He is currently such a happy boy, we don't want his time to be taken up with surgeries and hospitalization. This decision has not been an easy one, but we feel it is the best one. ๐Ÿฅบ

Thank you to everyone who donated to my birthday fundraiser for Rodney's electrocardiogram. It took over an hour and the vet said it was one of the hardest she has ever done, he is a mess. Rodney laid on that table with a muzzle on (because all he wanted to do was lick everyone) for all that time, being very still with a little encouragement and extra pets from me. He even fell asleep at one point. The good news is she thinks he may be a candidate for surgery so he goes to Cornell on Monday for another electrocardiogram and more testing. The bad news is it will cost $6,000 to $8,000!! So plan on seeing more fundraising coming your way!!

SusieQ Dog ResQ

The rescue was started in 2006 after volunteering to do animal rescue in New Orleans as a result of Hurricane Katrina. We became a 501c3 not-for-profit corporation in 2007 and have found homes for many dogs, puppies, cats, kittens and even a few ducks (and a swan!!!).

Our name changed to SusieQ Dog ResQ in 2012, but our mission hasn't changed. Our most important goal is to save lives and find the best possible homes for the animals. We work very hard to accomplish this.

We donโ€™t have a facility. All of our rescues live with us or a foster, like one of the family, until their own home is found. We do have a Meet and Greet Center where you can meet your potential new family member.
