What an exciting day we have planned for our Summer Camp Experience ---- can't wait to share pictures that help us document a few more memories from the week! I am so thankful that God blessed us with absolutely awesome weather for an outdoor camp for children, absolutely wonderful teachers and counselors and absolutely amazing children to share so much with!

Summer Camp Experience

This year’s Reading, Writing and Real Horses Summer Experience 2013 is scheduled for June 17 – 21 (always the week after Fathers Day). NC State Certified / Licensed Educators, Child Friendly and Loving Staff and Experienced Equestrians will offer children a chance to learn about basic horsemanship, practice foundational literacy skills (including fluency and comprehension) and utilize "best practices" writing techniques - - - all of this intertwined with sharing the love of Jesus Christ. Proudly hosted by the Circle K Arena - - - It is a 'once in a summer' opportunity for children who are rising kindergartners through rising fifth graders.

Camp applications will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis - - please note that we can only accept a very limited number of students because we only provide top notch educators/teachers/instructors and family friendly, intelligent horses for the camp. Camp fee is $200.00 for the week and runs daily from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. Your child can reserve their spot with a deposit of $100 (non refundable) by May 31.

It is the time of year when parents are searching for just the right summer adventure for their child – and the options seem endless. According to Melissa Simmons, owner of Cedar Cross Farm, LLC, children are offered “a once in a summer opportunity” known as Reading, Writing and Real Horses – Summer Experience. The former kindergarten teacher, public safety educator, marketing manager and dance instructor, Melissa feels very strongly about the quality of time children spend during their waking hours - - - and especially their summer break. As a Christian mother of two very active boys, ages 9 and 12, she knows there is a ‘time and place for everything’, therefore believes each day is so worth making memories. Seven years ago, Melissa was approached by some of the parents in her kindergarten classroom to create a summer camp that would involve her own childhood love – horses - - - and her love for teaching children - - - and such became a camp that takes place only one time a summer.
