PSA in regards to my secretary:
My daughter has her championship volleyball tournament next weekend in Orlando Florida and we have decided to make it a small family vacation as well. I will be gone june 22nd through july 1st. I will still be answering messages, however it may take me a few days to respond rather than 24 to 48 hours (unless of an emergency of course).
Please feel free to go online to the website Www.ohiofarrier.com to schedule. If you do not see anything in the time frame you need/want, go ahead and schedule when you can now. Then send me a message letting me know you are hoping to get seen sooner. You can message me through our page here using FB messenger, my email at [email protected], or through phone at 614-927-7907 (texting is the fastest and best way to get ahold of me especially next week when i am in a loud convention center).

Thank you all for your understanding,
Whitney

Prices had to increase 100% because of tariffs on steel. While the shoes are made in America the raw steel comes from China. The 25% tariff increased prices by 15% and now we will be hit with double that… I won’t raise prices again for a while but if this stays in effect long enough. A trip to the farrier store used to cost me around $1000 every three weeks and now it’s $1200 for the same things. That is a $3500 increase every year for me, taxes have also gone up it’s getting impossible to be a small business anymore

Yahoo Finance is chronicling the latest news and updates on Trump's tariffs.

Hey everyone,
We wanted to take a moment to share a few important updates to our pricing and policies at Nusbaum’s Farrier Service. These mostly reflect the current reality of tool costs, fuel, time demands, and physical strain—and we appreciate your understanding as we continue to serve you and your horses with care and professionalism.

🔧 Trim Pricing Reminders:
• $60 base trim rate still applies if we are already on-site for shoeing another horse. Otherwise, as listed PER HEAD/equine
• Small equines (under 11 hands) remain at $60.
• Goats, pigs, sheep $20 but must already be a $60+ visit!
• Drafts and oversized horses (over 1300 lbs or size 4 shoes and up) will now be $90.

🧲 Shoe Pricing Updates:
• Front Steel: $150
• Full Set: $210
• Draft Front: $285
• Draft All Around: $340
• Glue-ons: TBD
Please note: Prices for materials like pads, aluminum, and casting have also increased. Check the updated sheet for full details.

📆 Missed Cycles and Delayed Care:
If your horse misses multiple trim or shoeing cycles and ends up needing sedation or veterinary help due to overgrowth or behavioral issues, you will be charged for each missed cycle.
This covers the wear on tools and my body that comes with delayed care. A tight schedule is critical, and exceptions will no longer be made unless for newly acquired rescues. Whitney will help enforce this.

⏰ Emergency Scheduling Fees (Sundays & Mondays):
If you *NEED* a Sunday or Monday appointment outside of us requesting that change, that will now incur an $80 emergency fee per client (or per every 2 horses) in addition to the standard service charges.

These are my only two days off, and I truly appreciate your respect for that boundary.

🪢 Time Fees:
If I need to catch, tie, train, or handle an unruly horse, a $20/half-hour time fee will apply.
This starts the moment extra handling begins—no prorating.
Once we pass the 30-minute mark, another $20 is added, and so on.

I’m not thrilled to make these changes—but my health, time, and rising costs demand it. No one’s expenses are going down, and I’ve held out from price increases longer than I should have.
My sincere hope is that these adjustments will last us for a long while to come.

All digital platforms will be updated by Wednesday. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you for your continued support, patience, and understanding.

We will be KEEPING it $60 for those with 4+ horses at a stop, but this is if pricing on materials doesn’t increase again. We appreciate your business but the profit margin isn’t as high as it once was. Thank you for understanding.

Trust us, we aren’t happy about it.

But the schedule is staying full, hands only have so many horses in them, and my cost have risen a few times since I last requested them.

Please remember Sundays and Mondays are my only family and errand days so generally if I’m going to work those days there will be a $65 charge per client. Not per destination.

****Friendly reminder****

We are officially in the warmer months (may through september) where the max length between trims is 6 weeks.

He is booked solid 6 to 8 weeks out at a time. Please do NOT wait until the last minute to book. If you do not see anything in the time frame you need, contact me.

Thanks,
Whitney

Unfortunately this will raise costs on me again. It happened the last time and it will happen this time. I will attempt to keep my prices where they are for as long as I can. These tariffs are literally what caused my last price increase. This isn’t about politics it’s about my livelihood and unfortunately it will affect us all…
