Cats communicate constantly through their body language and many signs of stress can be subtle.
A tucked tail, ears turned sideways, avoiding eye contact, crouching, dilated pupils, or whiskers pulled back can all be signs your cat is feeling anxious or uncomfortable.
On the other hand, relaxed cats tend to have:
• Soft eyes
• Neutral ears
• Loose body posture
• Upright or gently curved tails
• Friendly rubbing or cheek marking
Learning to recognize these signals can help reduce stress, prevent fear-based behaviors, and strengthen your bond with your cat.
Not every stressed cat hisses or swats. Sometimes the quiet signs tell you the most.
