Back in September, after noticing my kitten was having incontinence issues and not eating, l rushed her to an emergency vet only to be told she has WET FIP. Although the vet herself wasnt much help, her technician was. Her technician immediately suggested this group and to contact my vet in the morning.

Upon leaving, eyes full of tears, I sat in my car screaming, crying and asking why, all while telling Cirice that I would do everything I could to save her. As all of this was happening, I was searching Facebook for this group. I was contacted almost instantly (although my app wasn't working so I didnt see any messages until the following morning). Administrators were so informative, caring, and understanding. They LISTENED to all my concerns while guiding me in the needed direction.

Now, today, with the wonderful help from this group, the AMAZING team and my vet, my baby girl, Cirice is cured from FIP

I cant thank you all enough for your support, encouragement, knowledge, education, and tine spent doing everything to not only help me and my girl, but everyone else in this situation. Fip sucks but with the help and support from wonderful people like you, its no longer a death sentence.

Did you know there is a simple, inexpensive test that vets can use for cats suspected of having Wet/Effusive FIP? While not a stand-alone diagnostic, a positive Rivalta test can help confirm suspected effusive FIP at the time of sampling. No send out, no wait.

As with all suspected FIP cases, always start GS-441524 treatment as a precaution to save precious time. GS-441524 is perfectly safe and a diagnostic tool in its own right.

We know that some people firmly believe that open-market med options need to go away. However, here is more proof that we (FIP groups) can't be done and downgrade to a more "supportive" role, despite the emergence of vet-led FIP med prescribing since mid-2024. All the arguing and debating across various platforms is exhausting and always ends the same way — hostile, accusatory, and full of frustration at not being heard or understood on this issue. We can't bury our heads and be okay with some cats being saved while others never stood a chance.

Treatment delays, "more testing", euthanizing instead of learning that FIP has had a cure for now years...THIS is why we are still here. THIS is why we keep fighting and keep improving our processes so we can help these parents on the spot. THIS is not fair. These were all within 48 hours, and these are just a few; there are many, many more. We are tracking these situations in case anyone qualified wants to take a deep dive into the issue.

I'm not a fan of negativity and want to deliver only positive news, happy reviews, education, tips, and the like. But this is the reality we don't like to talk about, but need to. If you and your cat receive this kind of response in the face of an FIP diagnosis, please reach out. We have many FIP-supportive vet practices we can refer you to based on our community's feedback. We have resources all over to help you in the moment until you can get on track with a new vet. Your cat DOES NOT have to die or suffer long-term defects from an FIP diagnosis and delay in treatment.
