Hydration affects everything from digestion to kidneys to joint health, and dehydration often shows up subtly.
Pale yellow urine is a good sign. If it’s dark, sticky, or smells strong, your pet may need more fluids. Healthy pets should be peeing several times a day—if not, something’s off. But getting your pet to drink more water is only half the battle.
The other half is in their diet; kibble is only about 10% moisture, which means if that is their main source of food then they aren’t getting any hydration from their food. Raw and fresh foods? Up to 75%. That’s why pets on real food may drink less but stay perfectly hydrated.
Another way to tell whether your pet is hydrated is to pinch their skin at the shoulders—if it’s slow to bounce back, they’re probably dehydrated.
At Kingsfoil Vet, we support hydration through food, not just fountains. Fresh nutrition, organ support, and real answers—because your pet’s health starts at the root. 💧💚
