Meet the Brazilian Blue Dwarf Beauty Tarantula 💙🕷️ — a rare gem of the spider world! Native to the forests of Brazil, this tiny tarantula stuns with its electric-blue legs and shimmering body. Though small in size, its vibrant colors make a *huge* impression. A true collector’s dream! 🌿✨

This is Smurf our Blue dwarf beauty. He matured out this year and we have been searching endlessly for him a mate. Unfortunately it seems Smurf will simply live out his days with us without being able to mate. We will make him comfortable until it’s his time.

Widow Wednesday: Brown Widow

Brown widow spiders (Latrodectus geometricus) are a lesser-known relative of the infamous black widow. Though venomous, their bites are generally less severe and rarely medically significant. Some exotic pet enthusiasts keep them for their fascinating behavior, web-building skills, and unique coloration—tan to gray bodies with orange hourglass markings and spiky egg sacs.

While not ideal for beginner arachnid keepers, brown widows can be low-maintenance, fascinating pets for responsible, informed hobbyists. Always check local regulations, as keeping venomous spiders may be restricted in some areas.

This is our brown widow Melina. She gave us a ton of beautiful babies including my favorite hold back Lilith.

We have 100 babies available as well as three unhatched eggs sacs.

Tiny Terror Tuesday

Spider Beetles: Mezzium Affine

If you're into unique and low-maintenance pets, **spider beetles** might be a fascinating addition to your collection. These tiny insects, from the **Ptinidae** family, look surprisingly like spiders thanks to their round, shiny bodies and long legs. Typically just 1–5 mm long, they come in reddish-brown or black and have a slow, deliberate way of moving that adds to their charm.

Despite their spooky appearance, spider beetles are harmless and easy to care for. They thrive in small enclosures with a dark, dry environment and a simple diet of **dry organic materials**—think oatmeal, flour, or dried plant matter. They require very little interaction and are fun to observe, especially for fans of detritivores or microfauna.

While not as interactive as other insects, spider beetles are great for educational setups, naturalistic terrariums, or collectors of odd and obscure invertebrates. They're a conversation starter and a great way to appreciate the overlooked beauty of nature’s recyclers.

Just remember: they're escape artists, so a secure, ventilated container is a must!

When I got this big beautiful man his first mommy told me he loved her salt lamp and even has pictures of him near it. So I figured to thank Rudy-Lust for being part of our family I’d give him something similar to remind him of home. Not exactly a salt lamp but I think he likes it. His girlfriend Envy has been very interested and curious about him as their enclosures are next to each other. Send all the good luck cause next weekend they will be introduced and hopefully she accepts him and doesn’t turn him into a meal. She will be well fed before they are introduced.

This is “no name” one of my hold back black widows. Today we had the pleasure of feeding all the brown widow babies. Of the original 101, we have 97 babies that are still surviving. Which now that they are separated and fed I think that number will stay pretty high. Melina still has a few babies in her enclosure with her and she is still with us for now. Good job Melina, thanks for all the beautiful babies.

Today I had the honor of separating 100 brown widow babies from my girl Melina. It was a workout but it got done. I saved one special baby as a for sure hold back and we will see how the rest do before they are adopted out.
