After a good day of rest, I’ve finally had time to gather my thoughts on what was truly a fabulous weekend.
First and foremost, I want to thank all the volunteers—both members and non-members—who gave their time and energy to help our club and to support Kerri and me as venue owners. Laurie Welch Christopher King Amber King , Jasmine King Tom James Victoria Ferguson Cheyanne Barrett Harlee Stephens Shawn Donovan Amber Shanks Emma Satterlee and Robert Freas with RAF Photography—thank you. I truly hope I didn’t miss anyone, because there were so many people who stepped up to make this event run as smoothly as it did.
To all the competitors that took their time and finances to help this event worthwhile. Without you guys and your pups we wouldn't have ever been able to put this together. We had a Tremendous turnout and can't thank all of you enough !!!
A huge thank you to our judges for the weekend, Bryan Landers and Krista Benny Silvers . You both traveled a long way to ensure the Lonestar Throwdown had exactly what it needed to be successful. Your support, along with the donations you provided for raffles and admin items, meant more than I can properly express. Thank you again for everything.
I also want to recognize an incredible DD employee, Laura Arteaga Thank you for keeping everything organized and ensuring the event flowed as smoothly as possible and not to mention taking the time to assist in judging for us as well. We received so many compliments—not just from competitors, but from members of the community who had never seen an event like this live. Laura, we truly appreciate you—thank you so much!
To the LSDD Board members— Joe Harris Mandy Gober Harris , Tommy Ruggiero , Brianna Baughman and Joy Miller —congratulations on our very first event! This took a tremendous amount of behind-the-scenes planning, discussions, and contingency preparation. Every bit of it was worth it. You all made it happen—thank you! Let's start the planning on the next one 😉
To all our vendors and sponsors: this event would not have been possible without your support, whether through donations or financial contributions. Kerri and I are incredibly grateful and hope to have you join us again for future events. We will continue to support you just as you supported us.
Lastly, I want to thank the backbone of this venue—my beautiful wife, Kerri Oehmen Flores . Thank you for standing by me through all the ups and downs while preparing for this event. You worked tirelessly to get the pool ready and looking amazing for both competitors and the community. Our very first event is officially in the books—and it was a success. I couldn’t have done this without you. I love you!
