🚨 ALERTA COMUNITARIA: MOQUILLO CANINO (DISTEMPER) 🚨

🚨 COMMUNITY ALERT: CANINE DISTEMPER 🚨
A serious and preventable disease is affecting dogs in our community.
We need our community to be aware.
Over the past three months, we have seen approximately 10 positive cases of canine distemper.
That is extremely concerning, especially because distemper is highly contagious and can be deadly—but it is preventable.

🦠 WHAT IS DISTEMPER?
Canine distemper is a virus that can make dogs extremely sick.
It attacks multiple parts of the body, including the immune system, respiratory system, digestive system, and nervous system.

🐕 HOW DOES A DOG GET DISTEMPER?
Distemper spreads very easily from an infected animal.
It is most commonly spread through airborne droplets when an infected dog coughs, sneezes, or breathes near another dog.
It can also spread through infected bodily fluids and contaminated items such as food and water bowls. Contact with infected wildlife, including raccoons, skunks, and wild canids, can also pose a risk.

⚠️ WHAT DOES DISTEMPER DO TO A DOG?
A dog with distemper may initially look like they have a bad respiratory or stomach illness.
Symptoms can include:
• Runny eyes or nose• Fever• Coughing• Extreme tiredness• Loss of appetite• Vomiting• Diarrhea• Difficulty breathing
But distemper can become much more serious.
As the virus attacks the nervous system, dogs can develop:
• Muscle twitching• Tremors• Loss of coordination• Seizures• Paralysis
Neurological problems can sometimes appear after other symptoms seem to improve.

💔 IS THERE A CURE?
Unfortunately, there is NO specific cure for canine distemper.
There is no medication that simply kills the virus once a dog is infected.
Veterinarians can provide supportive treatment to help the dog fight the infection and manage symptoms, but some dogs become severely ill or die. Dogs that survive severe neurological disease may be left with permanent damage.

💉 BUT HERE IS THE GOOD NEWS:
DISTEMPER IS PREVENTABLE.
VACCINATION IS OUR BEST DEFENSE.
The distemper vaccine is a core vaccine for dogs and is generally very effective at preventing this devastating disease. Puppies need a series of vaccinations because they are particularly vulnerable during their first months of life.

❤️ PLEASE PROTECT YOUR DOG.
If your dog is:
❌ Unvaccinated❓ You aren't sure of their vaccine history⚠️ Overdue for vaccinations
Please contact your veterinarian and get your dog protected.
If your dog is sick or showing possible symptoms, keep them away from other dogs and contact a veterinarian immediately.

💉 VACCINATE.🐾 PROTECT.❤️ PREVENT.

One vaccine could help protect a life.
Please SHARE this post with your family, friends, and neighbors. Someone you know may not realize how serious distemper is—or that they can help prevent it.
Let's protect the dogs in our community together. 🐾❤️

No water in the ditches. They’re dry, the temperatures are brutal, and the dogs are struggling. 💔☀️

The Daily Kibble is here, caring for the dogs who need us the most—bringing them food, fresh water, and a little hope when they have nowhere else to turn. 🐾❤️

Thank you for being part of The Daily Kibble and for helping us keep showing up for them. 💗💞💖🙏🏽

✨ DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT! ✨

Hi friends, we have some incredible news to share! A generous private donor has offered to MATCH EVERY DONATION, dollar for dollar, up to $10,000! ❤️

Now we need YOU to help us reach that full $10,000 match!

Our mission is to make spay and neuter services more accessible to pets and families in our community. With your support, we can build a larger facility that will allow us to:

🐾 Provide a safe, secure recovery space for hundreds of dogs who otherwise have nowhere to recover after surgery.

🐾 Create a dedicated storage area for pet food, medical supplies, and other essential resources we use to help animals every day.

Every dollar matters, and right now, every dollar can become TWO dollars! If you donate $25, it becomes $50. Donate $100, and it becomes $200. And if we reach the full $10,000, our donor will match the entire amount! 🙌🏼

There are so many incredible organizations doing amazing work, and we are beyond grateful for everyone who chooses to support ours. ❤️

A fundraiser is available right here on spot.fund http://spot.fund/f6g5zt1sc

Please consider giving, sharing, and helping us spread the word. Together, we can build something that will continue helping animals for years to come.

From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU for believing in our mission and standing beside us. 🐾❤️

✨ $10,000 donated = $20,000 toward our mission! ✨

A HUGE thank you to a sweet friend who reached out to us about donating flea medication and prevention! 🐾❤️
Some of the products are slightly expired, but they are still extremely useful for our street-feeding mission and helping the animals we encounter.
When you're working with animals living on the streets, anything that can help is better than nothing. These donations allow us to provide much-needed flea and parasite prevention to animals who otherwise may never receive it.
We are incredibly grateful for your generosity and for thinking of the animals in our community.
Every donation, big or small, helps us continue the work we do.
Thank you for helping us help them.

MARSHMALLOW HAS FINALLY BEEN ADOPTED! 🎉🎉🎉
After nearly 1½ years with us, Marshmallow’s time has finally come! ❤️🐾
Marshmallow was rescued from the cruel streets of Colony Ridge and was lovingly fostered by Zully through The ZOEY Group.
She has been waiting patiently for her forever family, and yesterday, that dream has finally coming true. 🥹❤️
Marshmallow is traveled all the way to Seattle, Washington, where she will begin her new life with her forever family! ✈️🐶🏡
She is such a sweet, loving girl, and we are beyond happy and grateful that she finally has the happy ending she deserves.
It’s bittersweet saying goodbye after having her with us for so long, but knowing she is going to a loving forever home makes every moment worth it. ❤️
Go live your best life, Marshmallow! Your happily ever after starts NOW! 🐾✨
We love you and wish you nothing but happiness, love, and endless cuddles in Seattle! ❤️🐶

Meet Reggie, AKA Finn! 🐾

He was dumped at the dumping grounds back in April. We found him while we were out feeding the dogs, and the moment we saw him, we KNEW he couldn’t stay there another day.

If you ever wonder what happens to the dogs we help save, here’s how their journey usually goes:

🐾 First, they come to our house while we figure out a plan, a foster, or transportation.
🐾 Then, they go to a foster home or rescue facility where they are safe and cared for while waiting for their forever family.
🐾 Finally, they get adopted and start the life they always deserved. ❤️

And look at Reggie now! 🥹🥰

Stories like his are possible because of an amazing rescue village—our rescue partners, fosters, volunteers, transporters, and the people who pledge and donate to help make these second chances possible.

But most importantly… FOSTERS. Without fosters opening their homes, so many of these dogs would never get the chance to leave the streets.

Thank you for being part of this incredible mission. Every share, every dollar, every ride, every foster, and every helping hand makes a difference.

One dog at a time. One life at a time. One happy ending at a time. 🐾❤️🥹

Thank you to South Texas Aussie Rescue for partnering with us and also thank you to all the other amazing rescues that have partnered with us in the past 💗🙏🏽

💔 She sniffed the body of her baby after it was run over.

This mother is a victim of a system that has failed her.

A system where we are told, “Dogs are property. You can’t take them or you’ll get in trouble.”
But somehow, nobody gets in trouble when these dogs are left to suffer, reproduce, become covered in skin infections, and live in conditions that continue to deteriorate.

I am done staying quiet.

For 3 years, I have watched these dogs decline. I have watched them get better, only to watch them decline again. For 3 years, I have driven these streets and witnessed their everyday struggles.

I have given them NexGard and watched their skin improve. Then, when I miss a month, their skin gets bad again—fast.

And I have noticed a heartbreaking pattern.

When their skin is looking better, they are allowed inside the fence.

When their skin is at its worst, they are put outside and locked out.

And now, the situation has gotten even worse. 😭

They are leaving mama outside while keeping her puppies inside and blocking the gate so she cannot get back into the fence.

Imagine being a mother and being kept away from your babies.

Last night, I saw mama again, and she is in worse shape now. Her skin is suffering badly. I have not given her NexGard because I believe she may still be nursing her two last surviving puppies, and I don’t want to take a chance without knowing for sure.

There is also a dad.

And this is where I have to be honest: I cannot save them all by myself.

I can feed them.
I can advocate for them.
I can try to get them medical care.
But I cannot take an entire family without a rescue, fosters, and a community willing to stand behind them.

💔 She is still suffering.
💔 Two puppies are still alive.
💔 There is a dad who needs help too.

I am asking for RESCUE, A LOCAL FOSTER, AND PLEDGES.

If you are a reputable 501(c)(3) rescue that can take this family, please reach out.

If you are in the Houston/Cleveland area and can foster, please say YES. A local foster could literally change the outcome for this family.

And if you cannot foster or rescue, please consider making a pledge toward their veterinary care.

Please share this. Tag rescues. Tag fosters. Tag anyone who can help.

I don’t want to come back to this street one day and find another body in the road.

She has already lost almost all of her babies.

Let’s not let her lose the rest. 🐾💔

❤️ WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE — BUT WE ARE NOT DONE YET. ❤️

Hey everyone, I want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to every single person who has donated, shared, encouraged, and believed in our mission. 🙏🏽

So far, we have raised $8,332 toward our Spay & Neuter / Recovery & Storage Building! 🥹❤️

We are still far from our goal, but I truly believe WE CAN DO THIS.

This building is so much more than four walls. It will give us a place to safely recover dogs and cats after spay and neuter surgeries, store the food and supplies we use to care for the animals in our community, and most importantly, help us prevent unwanted litters before they are born into a life of suffering on the streets.

Every day, we see the consequences of overpopulation firsthand. Puppies and kittens are dumped, abandoned, born in the streets, and left to suffer.

We want to change that. 🐾

We want to move from constantly trying to save animals after they are already suffering… to preventing that suffering in the first place.

That is why this building matters.

If you can donate $5, $10, $25, $50, or whatever you can, you are helping us get one step closer. And if you cannot donate, PLEASE SHARE this fundraiser. Your share could reach the person who can make a huge difference.

🙏🏽 Help us build something that will save lives for years to come.

We have already come this far together.
$8,332 raised — let’s keep going! ❤️
