Juneteenth celebrates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the US and is an opportunity to honor African American heritage. It’s a day to reflect, to honor resilience, and to recommit to justice and equity.

At the Cleveland APL, we believe our mission to care for animals is deeply connected to how we care for people. True compassion means creating a world where dignity, respect, and fairness are extended to everyone without exception.

Karen Pryor was such an amazing woman, and accomplished so much over her lifetime! All of her books are great articles for teaching, even if you are not in the animal training field. Rest In Peace, the legacy left behind will live on as you designed!

It is with great sadness that IMATA learned of the passing of Karen Pryor, a trailblazer in animal training, behavioral psychology, and marine mammal biology. As a founder of Karen Pryor Clicker Training and a passionate advocate for positive reinforcement, her groundbreaking work transformed animal training practices across the globe. Karen’s contributions leave an enduring legacy that will continue to shape and inspire the field. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, and all who were touched by her remarkable life.
