⭐️I wanted to give everyone an update on mama Lily!
If you didn’t know, when her babies were 4 weeks old she became septic from having mastitis- she showed no signs of having mastitis, and it all happened extremely fast. At 830pm we rushed her to an er vet who misdiagnosed her, and did an unnecessary emergency surgery. The next morning (I met Shawn at the er vet) I realized she had mastitis.
I reached out to another golden breeder who is very knowledgeable, and she guided me through the entire process of what I needed to do, and what was going to happen with Lily’s mastitis.
Her mastitis ruptured and was a giant wound, and I mean GIANT!
after a lot of extensive wound care and many rounds of antibiotics Lily’s wound finally closed!! It closed about a week ago- so it took about 7 weeks for it to fully close up, poor Lily went through so much, she’s a strong girl and is now as happy as can be!
Being a breeder, you have to know that things like this can happen, even when you’re not expecting it.im so thankfuk for my friend who helped me, and taught me how to properly care for Lily’s wound. And for dr. Todd at Court Street Animal Hospital for being the best around, and not getting mad at me for calling and emailing her all the time lol
🩷And if you were wondering, Lily isn’t going anywhere, she’s going to live with us for forever!🩷
