Crackerjack has another baby to raise. I absolutely love our new barn and our new barn family! My horses, children , and I am so happy there. I was more productive today than I have been in months. It was beautiful! If anyone needs some pretty spring pictures, Tasha Cauthern has a really good eye.
We did it! We made the move to our new facility in Dickson, TN yesterday. We couldn’t have done it without all the amazing help we received. We had a full convoy. The horses are settled in nicely and I am thankful for so many things. To show how thankful I am to my clients who made this move with me, I am offering them a free additional week of training. Diva, the dappled grey, and Cloud, the flea bitten grey, came to us all the way from IL for training. We did an evaluation the day they arrived. Why was this important? During the evaluation we got a suspicion that Diva might have DSLD. She had been to another trainer and seen by vets in the past and no one mentioned this. Instead of the owner taking her home, she asked me to help them pursue a diagnosis and treatment plan. With the help of TN Equine Hospital we did just that. Diva will never be rideable but her owners want to do whatever they can to keep her comfortable and enjoy their time with her. We came up with an amazing way for them to keep Diva in shape and spend time with her. We taught Cloud how to pony Diva. Now Diva can still join them on easy trails. Our farrier has ordered exaggerated egg bar shoes for her and will be helping her get a better break over to hopefully slow the progression of this disease. Then he will communicate the treatment plan with the owners farrier in IL.

She had a fence accident when she was a yearling so was never trained under saddle but is pasture sound. She is easy to catch and handle. She comes with a blanket and a fly mask. Dakota is a safe experienced trail horse. She has been to Bowie, Big South Frork, Percy, Buffalo, Cades Cove, and Natchez Trace. She rides English and Western. She has been used as a guided trail horse and a lesson horse. She has been to local shows and would do well in Ranch classes. She knows the barrel pattern and has been roped off of. She has pushed cows as well. She neck reins, WTC on correct lead, has a hard stop, can spin and side pass. She’s been through obstacles as well. She was my 16 yr old daughters main horse for years. She is getting very serious in rodeo and needs something with more speed. She is a very easier keeper, loads well, high ties, and is great for the farrier.
She is currently in foal. This was an accidental pregnancy(storm blew down fence)but she is doing well and from how she’s showing should deliver by late spring. The baby could either be a mule or out of our nice AQHA Bay Roan Stallion. Either way should be a nice baby. Located currently in Clarksville, Tn will be moving to Dickson,TN on the 19th.

The arena is ready at our new place and stalls are almost finished. I delivered hay there yesterday and got to see the progress. I am so excited about this move. We are blessed to say the books are full till July! Our show training program is expanding to now include AQHA, APHA, Jr Rodeo, and Sortings. We are moving to an excellent new facility in March located in Dickson, TN. Our new place will have a 95x110 outdoor arena, 60x80 indoor, and trails on site. When Waylon arrived back in October, I wasn’t sure he would ever be safe enough to ride outside a pen. He was highly reactive just to human touch. I can’t tell you how many times he drug me hard core around the round pen. He refused to allow a connection. He fought all cues given to him. He even kicked me once. All associated with fear. Getting through to him is probably one of the most challenging things I have came across in my training experience. It is also one of the most rewarding. Riding him around the farm yesterday, him putting his trust in me, being soft and responsive, enjoying our time together was huge. I am excited to say he is ready for field trips and not far from being ready to go home. #mules #trailriding #horsetraining #getranchy
We get so excited about teaching our horses new things, that sometimes we forget, “They have to know their ABC’s before they can make words.” One of the main things we look for in an evaluation is the weather horse knows it’s ABC’s.
