We are still caring for this sweet boy here at the clinic.

He was found and brought to us on **6/1** and, under Iowa law, will be considered abandoned after the required holding period if an owner cannot be located.

We know this dog belongs to someone. He is friendly, well-mannered, and clearly deserves to be back home with the people who know him best.

If you recognize him, have seen him in the area, or have any information that may help us locate his owner, please give our clinic a call as soon as possible.

Every dog deserves to be home, sleeping in their own bed, surrounded by the people who love them. Most importantly, he deserves to be with someone who can call him by his name.

Please share this post to help us reunite him with his family.

‼️PSA‼️
We’ve had a few inquiries recently regarding stray dogs and surrender requests that have left people frustrated, and in turn, left us frustrated. Here is a little more information on our organization:

To start, we are NOT animal control. We are licensed as a rescue and provide adoptions on animals that are housed in approved and inspected foster homes, which means we can only take in surrenders IF we have a foster home available. All animals must be up to date on vaccinations, spayed or neutered, and microchipped before they enter one of our foster homes. This means no stray intake. We are currently full and have had to turn surrenders away until we can get some of our animals adopted out.

Also, we are NOT a pound. We do not pick up animals running at large. A pound is licensed and inspected completely different than a rescue, nor do we have a building to house strays at this time. If you are in danger of an animal running at large, you are advised to call your local police department or the sheriff’s department.

Good news though? We are fundraising for a shelter that would solve both of these problems! We are operating as best we can within our ability, but please be considerate as we are completely volunteer based. If you’re interested in becoming one of our foster homes to help us out in the meantime please email us at [email protected] for an application and more information on the process.

As a final note: for over 20 years Don Garrett has been our primary foster and has helped dozens and dozens (maybe even hundreds) of dogs find new homes. Don is now enjoying his well-deserved retirement from fostering and we ask that inquiries be directed to this page via Messenger or through one of our board members or volunteers.

📣Calling all Husky Lovers!📣
Scout is 1.5 old neutered male Husky searching for his forever home! He is every bit of Husky he can be- a chatterbox, full of personality, and energy to boot.

Scout went to Pampered Pets today for a bath/blowout and a play date. He played with both big and little dogs and loved everyone! He didn’t even notice the kitty sitting in the window during his grooming. Scout is finishing up his evening at Wright Nights on Main if you’d like to stop by and say hi!
