That’s right!!!!
According to data from the American Temperament Test Society, Pit Bull–type dogs have passed standardized temperament tests at a reported rate of about 87%, placing them among the higher-ranking breeds out of more than 100 tested. These evaluations measure traits such as stability, confidence, and tolerance in controlled situations designed to observe how dogs respond to people, sounds, and unfamiliar environments.
Results like these are often shared to challenge common stereotypes about pit bulls, suggesting that when they are properly raised, trained, and socialized, they can be calm and people-friendly companions. Experts frequently emphasize that a dog’s behavior depends heavily on factors such as environment, training, treatment by owners, and early social experiences rather than breed alone.
While temperament testing provides useful insight, responsible ownership, consistent training, and safe handling remain key factors in shaping any dog’s behavior, regardless of breed.
