I may be unorthodox but I get the job done. If you give your dog a command, they should be able to do it even with distractions or if you walk away.
you start with at home distractions before moving to public distractions.
also, training should be fun. so have fun

hand signals are good for not only times your dog doesn't hear you (in crowds) but also when you don't have a voice.
For example, you're sick and have a sore throat or you're a selective mute and go non verbal

When I'm actively training my dogs I'll get ppl that tell me to "just let them be dogs"
Then when I let them play on the live, some lady has an issue with it and tries to say it's not playing🤣
If it's not playing Linda then what is it?
There will always be someone out there that has something to say, even if they have no idea what they're taking about. and you just gotta laugh at it.

When in training, you won't get the same results outside as you will inside.
That's why there are gradual steps in training and distractions. Training outside is a distraction in itself.

I don't get many guests so it's hard to work on place training when I do have guests.
