To close out 2024 I’m so excited to say that our sweet girl Poppy (previously Prim) has finished her trial adoption and she is HOME! 🎉🎉🎉

Poppy has the most wonderful human family and doggy & cat siblings ❤️

Thank you so much Nikki Elersic Grimmelsman for loving Poppy and welcoming her with open arms! She is so lucky to have you 🥹
And thanks to Lindsy for fostering 💕 and for those that donated to our girls vet care. It takes a village and you truly came together for Poppy.

Great way to get your dog some new toys for Christmas!

🎅🏻 SECRET SANTA DOG TOY EXCHANGE!!!!🎅🏻

This is so much fun! It works, but totally depends on how many of your friends and their friends participate.

Doesn’t matter where you live - you are welcome to join! You have to buy one gift valued at least $10 and send it to your secret dog. (Hello, Amazon and Chewy - you don’t even need to leave your house to shop !!!!). Your dog will receive 6-36 gifts in return. And the great thing is you can keep them or donate them! This is great for our fosters and new intakes! A present will brighten their day (and the owners too). We could all use some happy mail. Let me know if you are interested and I will send you information about your secret Santa dog. Just comment below “I’M IN”! Toys only please, no food or treats!
The dogs have the best time!!!🐾🐾

Last pupdate of the evening!

While transferring Prims’ microchip (she was an owner surrender) we made the discovery that she is not 3-4 years old after all (there are several discrepancy’s from the previous owners story that we now know)… but instead just had her…. 🎉FIRST BIRTHDAY on 11/17 🎉

While I was sad that she has endured so much in her short time earth-side, the bright side is that she has that much longer to spend with her furever family! ❤️

Prim is with an amazing foster family who are showing her the ropes on being both a puppy and family dog!

She will likely have a small but permanent limp from prior injuries but that doesn’t slow this girl down.

Here are some Prim pros—

🌸 Fun, friendly personality (hasn’t met a stranger)
🌸 Dog, cat and kid friendly
🌸 Crate and house trained
🌸 40 lbs
🌸 Up-to-date on vaccines, spayed, on monthly prevention

Cons—

🌸 Cannot hold her licker
🌸 That’s it, that’s the only con if pupper kisses just ain’t your thing

So let’s share her far and wide to help find her furever!

Enjoy this video of Prim enjoying a birthday present 🥹

Another happy adoption!

🎉Bea Bea (previously known as Delores) was also adopted!🎉

Bea Bea and Eleanor came from the same animal rescue mission that Stephanie Weddle and Bobbi Jean Fowler Cross coordinated! (So thank you to both of them also!)

💕Her mama Lisa knew immediately that she wanted to make little Bea Bea a member of her family, she patiently waited for her vetting to get done and was SO happy when they met! Bea Bea gets to have a doggy sibling too which I was so happy for because she LOVES dogs! They have all settled into life together and are doing awesome!💕

See the comments for a cute video of her and her doggy (cause I’m pretty sure she’s the boss lol)

💕She has the most amazing fur mama, family and doggy friend!

I am so thankful to Julia for opening her heart and home to Elly after losing her longtime friend Copper.
She is a stellar human being and Elly has already come leaps and bounds!!!

So enjoy some pics of Elly! Only the happiest of tails ahead for this girl 💕

Rescue can be really sad but there’s also really happy moments (like adoptions and happy birthdays!) and I’ll share some of those tomorrow. Tonight I’m tired and feeling drained so I’m gonna go snuggle my dogs now.

Yesterday the Haven welcomed Prima Bella, Italian for “beauty first”. I can imagine that she was beautiful when she was younger with her long red and brown coat.

She was in much worse shape than I had thought from the initial photos by her finders. I was shocked and you could tell she was painful.

Today, after being thoroughly examined by our vet team, compassionate euthanasia was recommended.
I am so glad I could give her that final act of kindness and that she no longer has to suffer.

She was found with a collar on— no identifiers on the collar and no microchip (finders held her for stray hold) At one point she had “owners”, but make no mistake that a dog does not come to be in this condition overnight. This is months, if not years of neglect. No veterinary care for the massive painful tumor on her side or the teeth that were rotting and causing abscesses in her mouth. No grooming for her extremely matted coat that when removed weighed 10 pounds! Shame on those “owners”, you were neglectful abusers and I’m so glad her last breaths were not under your “care” because you did not truly care about her.

I sat with Prima Bella. Stroked her fluffy head and emaciated body. Fed her a doughnut and candy. Told her she was loved and that it was okay to rest. Held her paw. I sat with her and in her final moments she knew LOVE and CARE and COMFORT.

Thank you to the finders who cared for her and volunteers who graciously transported her and paid for her grooming— we were her family this last week 💜

Could anyone potentially foster 4 yr old large breed female unaltered dog. Abuse in past. Unsure about other animal interactions but very sweet with vet staff even though she’s in pain. Please DM me if able to help!

Delores was welcomed into rescue and quickly found her furever home!
She has an approved adoption application and goes home to her mama later this week after her spay tomorrow!

She has a great big feisty personality and is so loving! I just LOVE her!

She had an upper respiratory infection when she came to rescue which was treated. Then she developed an eye ulcer (the vet thinks either from the eye crusties from the URI or possibly from learning to use the litter box and getting some litter in her eye) Her eye is all healed up now and she has her final recheck this week before going home.
