🐍 Spring is upon us, which means that our snake friends are becoming active again. As snake season gets underway, we want to take a brief moment to raise awareness of snakebites in our equine friends. This image shows a young horse after a large snake bit him on the nostril. We suspect it was a copperhead, given the amount of swelling, and the large distance between the two punctures. Thankfully, his owner knew what to look for and called us right away.

💡 Did you know that horses cannot breathe through their mouth? If your horse gets bit and both nostrils swell, it could be life threatening. A small piece of tubing or hose can be held in place to prevent the nostril from completely swelling closed - definitely a good item to add to your barn or trailer emergency kit!

BOARDING SPOT AVAILABLE

We will have a boarding spot available in the next few weeks. Small ring/large round pen. The pasture has a 2 stall run in barn with a feed room. 24/7 hay or grass. Small, family owned and operated. This is just a field and barn at our home, nothing fancy but great care. Farrier on site. Message us for more information! Located in Church Road.
