Hey farm friends! This post has nothing to do with produce, so bear with me. This post has everything to do with the gentleman in the orange shirt and his wife, sitting across from us while we were eating lunch today. You see this man bumped into my life today and I might not be typing this right now if it wasn’t for his quick reactions and his willingness to run to help someone he did not know.

So let me take a moment of your time for a personal PSA…..

We were eating lunch at a local restaurant when I got too excited about my fish taco and started choking. I cannot describe the fear I felt as I realized that not only was I unable to breathe, but I was unable to yell for help as well. I tried to stand up so I could possibly dislodge the obstruction, but I quickly realized I was about to pass out when I saw him jump from his seat and run towards me. He quickly started the Heimlich maneuver and was immediately able to open my airway and I was able to breathe once again. His quick reactions and knowledge of this technique made it possible for me to see another day on this wonderful planet. I am seldom unable to express myself, but I cannot find the words to thank this amazing man for saving my life today.

I wanted to write about this because it made me realize that even though I do know some basic first aid, I was unable to help myself. Every year around 5,000 people die from this and the solution is found in attending a basic first aid class. I know I will be looking for a class to attend, and I suggest that you should as well. Your knowledge could save a life.

I learned a hard lesson today but you don’t have to…take the CLASS!

Good morning farm friends! We wanted to update everyone on how the heirloom tomatoes are doing and what we expect for a fall crop.
Right now, as you can imagine, they are struggling with the heat but we are trying our best to keep the remaining plants alive and thriving. We've added additional water as needed and they are starting to kick out new flowers and setting plenty of new tomatoes. If they can last the next couple of weeks, we should have another great fall crop of our delicious, pesticide free heirloom tomatoes for your dinner table!

We will let everyone know when they are getting ready to harvest so follow us for updates!!!
