Due to the stressors to our furry friends we will be closed on the 4th. Some tips to help them stay calm:
Play music or put on some white noise, wraps and vests such as thunder shirts, lick mats, dog earmuffs, weighted blanket, comfort your dog and remember to stay calm allow your dog the space to hide if that’s what they need. Good luck out there and happy 4th!

Breed: German shepherd mix
Coat type: thick double coat that is very sheddy
Grooming frequency: 4-8weeks

For German shepherds and husky or dogs with similar smooth medium length coats, it is very important to keep up with regular grooming

Having a pup go longer than 8 weeks with this type of coat can result in the fur becoming impacted, meaning the hair that needs to fall out due to season change doesn't. Instead, it remains intertwined with the healthy hair forming mats.

When this happens airflow cannot circulate to the skin causing further skin issues such as yeast buildups and rashes.

The best tool to prevent impacted fur is a high powered dryer. It removes all of last seasons fur and greatly reduces shedding in your home!

Booking every 8 weeks will help prevent impacting but your pup will still shed. Grooming your double coated pup every 4 weeks will result in very little shedding in the home and assure that your pup never has an impacted coat!

With shed season around the corner here's some tips and recommendations!

Check out our doggie friend: Ollie
Grooming frequency: 3-4 weeks
Hair texture: smooth and straight
Shed count: HIGH

Frenchies are as adorable as they are sheddy. To see a good reduction in shedding we recommend every 3 weeks for a deshed bath, conditioner and most importantly a blow dry!

Dogs who have similar coats include; pit bulls, labs, smooth coated chihuahuas, greyhounds, and pugs.

You can also help maintain at home by using a zoom groom or furminator brush.

The zoom groom is the pink rubber brush in the photo. This can be used daily or every other day. A quick gentle 5 minute brushing should help do the trick. Dogs tend to like this brush, it feels like a massage to them 😌

The furminator brush can be used a couple of times per week. It is a metal rake and you should only brush any given area on the body 3 or 4 times to prevent irritation.

Deshed season is right around the corner! For some shedding is always happening 😱. Here's little Winston, the fully coated Pekingese 😍

He gets a lot of attention 📸 with his almost 8 inch coat, that requires a beauty regimen for sure!

We see him every 4 weeks. His double coat requires a deshed and a light trim up so he's not dragging his locks on the floor. We give him a tunnel belly to keep him cool in the warmer months and also prevents knotting in the delicate tummy area.

Seeing him every 4 weeks and brushing efforts of a couple of days a week at home, will leave dogs with this type of coat mat free and they will have a much lower shed count as well.

So if you have a double coated dog that's a shedding maniac 🤪 we recommend a deshed treatment every 4 weeks for the best maintenance control!

Ever wonder what to expect from your groom visit? Did you brush enough do you bring your pup in often enough? Well let us help!

Grooming frequency: 4 weeks
Hair texture: cottony soft medium curls that knot easily
Haircut length: #2 or #1 short guard comb

He is brushed about every other day at home but his coat does knot easily. So his armpits hind legs and area where the harness sits usually have hairpin knots

We maintain him in this "short but fluffy" look with a fuller head.
This makes it easier on the pet parent and little Socrates 🐶

So if your pups hair is a bit unruly and you still want that fluffy look, consider a haircut like this! Your furry friend will thank you
