For any followers in the Greater Philadelphia Metro area, I'm making available an assembled Critter Nation and a Prevue Ranch 5524! This is a part of my family and I's efforts for spring cleaning and decluttering, and hopefully giving some critter items a new life!

The Critter Nation hasn't been used in some time and is scrubbed as best able. It does have some light to mild rust in some non-critical areas.

It comes with two shelves, its original base pan, and a Bass Equipment pan for deep bedding.

Due to my hypermobility and sciatica I'm not able to put the elbow grease into disassembling it like I used to, so it would go best to someone with a moving style van or pick up truck available for transport.

The Prevue Ranch is lightly used and is a fantastic cage! Out of personal preference, I don't like the plastic connector construction, but it would make a great standalone habitat for someone else.

It's been a slow month of rest, work, and cleaning without notable updates! I will be setting up the second and likely final pairing & maternity habitats of a couple does, including Toffee and Janeway.

We are currently waiting on Toffee's next heat to pair her with Butterscotch. Janeway has hopefully already taken from a confirmed pairing to Butterscotch earlier this week!

While I have downsized quite a bit, I'm currently expecting to hold back these prospective litters for the future of their lines.

While in between public litters, I have moved form-builders and updated my adoption application. For the time being, there aren't currently many updates at the crittery. Public availability is still on pause while some spring and house cleaning is underway.

My work schedule has also increased again to 5 days a week working into the evening - leaving little time for decompression, rest, family, and hobbies.

The rattery has been received quite a bit of interest and demand, which I dearly appreciate! At this time, no current availability is announced or expected for the remainder of this spring/summer.

When asked about the average adult size of my dwarf lines, I often like to just say, "hackysack!" Both bucks and does in my lines, depending on exact lineage, average between 120-150 grams once matured, with my smallest doe ever having topped at 100g.

Every breeder has different preferences and standards that they produce for and work towards - and that's one of the things I find fascinating and adore about the community. While my journey with rats a decade ago began with standards - like most - when I received the opportunity to work exclusively with dwarfs, I aspired toward a combination of the features I've come to love in both standard and dwarf varieties.

In my lines, I work towards a stout, solid build - easy to handle, especially with children and persons of varying motor skills in mind - with broad snouts reminiscent of standards, and the size and health benefits of dwarf - such a lower rate of developing tumors and cancers.

Willow hasn't gotten her own post in quite a while! This sweet girl is a pet-only permanent resident of the crittery, and my last remaining visual American Blue for the time being.

I made the decision to remove Willow from breeding consideration when she was young due to her crooked snout - without being able to know with certainty if the trait is genetic or a result of some squashing in the nest, the ethical decision was made for her to simply enjoy her life!

Willow helps out in the crittery with a maternal instinct nonetheless - a gentle girl, plays an excellent, patient nanny to many pups as they grow beyond weaning and begin to explore bigger habitats together.

While I would LOVE to have visual American Blue in the program again, I select heavily for, and prioritize temperament and health over varieties/markings. Currently I'm working to bring blue back through an earlier tangent of the line with my "black" line, and have my fingers crossed in a few generations the little g's (if you know your genotypes!) will line up and it may express again! 🤞🏾

Between work and general life and critter maintenance, things have been non-stop busy in the background. I'm hoping to catch up on messages and emails this coming weekend, but it's been a scramble lately!

After a busy winter/spring pairing season, I'll likely be taking a small breather on public litters for the summer, but any changes will always be posted!

Retiring CWC Fig/Figgy-girl is a tough one - not because anything is wrong with her - quite the opposite actually! She's too perfect! But she's earned it 💙

All of my breeding does earn their retirement after rearing their second, or third - at the most - litters. Fig, a granddaughter of foundation CWC Cookie, has given the crittery 6 lovely daughters and 3 handsome sons through two pairings.

A fantastic mother, cagemate, sister, and pocket-pal, Fig exemplifies physically and behaviorally the traits I love in my breeding program. But now her oldest daughters from Henry are they themselves paired, and this plump girl can enjoy the rest of her days snacking, sleeping, and shoulder-riding.
