Mikey & Me is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation located in Chelsea, Mi. I will also provide updates as I get to know each dog. Freer Rd.

Our mission is to pull homeless dogs from city shelters and place them into safe and loving family homes and to help families in need keep the dogs they already have. Mikey died in 2009 at the age of 17, and on that day I promised him that I would provide care for other dogs that needed me because he had brought so much joy and perspective to my life. I live with my partner, John, on a 100 year old farm property just south of Dexter and we currently have 4 dogs, 3 of them having been rescued. To fulfill my promise to Mikey, I joined a rescue group last year but wasn't satisfied with how many dogs they were turning away due to not having foster care arrangements for placing their dogs in a safe environment while they searched for their "forever homes". That's when I decided I could make a bigger impact by filling that need myself. I have't looked back since and here is a summary of my efforts along with how you can help:

I have an old dairy barn on my property that I am having repurposed. On this site, I will be installing comfortable and spacious kennels where I will provide free foster care for abused, neglected or otherwise homeless dogs for as long as it takes our local rescue groups to find their forever homes. I will provide food, water, long walks, social engagement, and plenty of love to these dogs while they are in my care....all in Mikey's name. On this page, I will provide photos of the dogs I have under my care along with contact information for the rescue group they belong to. Adoption fees for each dog can be found on the Happy Days Rescue website @ happydaysdogandcatrescue.org. But I need your help to make this effort an ongoing mission. Visitation:

Visitation for our dogs is by appointment only. If you see a dog on the Mikey & Me FB page that interests you, please submit an adoption application at happydaysdogandcatrescue.org. Once an application has been approved, I can invite the applicant out for a Meet & Greet with that dog. �

Good morning everyone,

Mikey & Me is helping provide care for this dog that was found wandering around the other day.

He was found along the Lakeland Trail between Pinckney and Hell, near the intersection of Patterson Lake Road and Kelly Road, very close to the Hell Saloon.

If you or anyone you know recognizes this dog, please let me know. He doesn’t have a microchip nor any tags to help identify him. 😢 He is in a safe environment for now.

MEET WINNIE — THE SWEETEST LITTLE EXPLORER! 🐾 (PENDING ADOPTION)

There’s a beautiful new girl at Mikey & Me Kennels for Happy Days Rescue, and she’s ready to steal some hearts!

Winnie is an 8-month-old Rottweiler/Shepherd mix weighing about 50 pounds, with a gorgeous two-toned coat and an even sweeter personality!

This lovable girl is the total package! She’s good with kids and other dogs, walks nicely on a leash, and isn’t much of a barker. She even appears to be potty trained!

Winnie’s favorite thing? Exploring the great outdoors! Whether she’s playing in the yard or discovering new sights and smells, this curious girl is just happy to be along for the adventure.

Domino is a 1–2-year-old Border Collie mix weighing about 50 pounds, with a gorgeous, fluffy coat and a personality to match! 🥰

This sweet boy LOVES people, enjoys attention, and is ready to find his forever family!

🐾 💙 MEET FINN — A BRAVE LITTLE HEART LOOKING FOR A FOSTER HOME! 🏡

Please note to foster Finn we are requesting the person or family meet the below requirements:

* A completely fenced in back yard, preferably 6 ft. or privacy fence

* Another nice dog in the home that can help Finn learn to overcome his fears

Sometimes, the smallest steps take the greatest courage. And our sweet Finn is showing us that every day. 🥹

Meet Finley (Finn), a 2-year-old Black Lab mix at Mikey & Me Kennels for Happy Days Rescue.

When Finn arrived in late August, he was so frightened that simply stepping outside felt overwhelming. 💔 He was underweight, unsure of his surroundings, and didn’t yet know that people could help him feel safe.

But little by little, something beautiful is happening. ❤️

The boy who was once afraid to step outside is finding the courage to explore his world. Each small victory brings a little more confidence. He’s gaining weight, feeling better, and slowly learning that life has good things waiting for him. 🥰

Despite his fears, Finn has remained incredibly gentle with all 70+ of our volunteers. He also finds comfort and confidence around other dogs. 🐶

🏡 FINN NEEDS A LOVING FOSTER HOME!

A quiet, patient home, ideally with a friendly, confident dog, could make all the difference in Finn’s journey.

CANELO IS ADOPTED #280! 🎉

After waiting so patiently for his person to come along, our sweet senior boy is officially BACK OUT OF THE KENNEL and headed HOME! We don't have an official picture, but Canelo will be enjoying his new home with his dad, Keith (volunteer at Mikey & Me) and 3 greyhound brothers 😭 💚

At 10 years young, Canelo reminded us that it’s never too late for your happily ever after. This gentle, loving guy is trading kennel life for cozy beds, lots of love, and — best of all — new fur siblings to share his days with! 🐶 🐾

There’s something extra special about watching a dog who has been waiting finally walk out those doors knowing he never has to come back. 🥹

Canelo, you deserve every couch nap, every treat, every adventure, and every ounce of love coming your way.

Happy tails, sweet boy. You’re HOME. 🏡 💚 🐾

ROOSTER HAS ARRIVED! 🐾

There's a new guy ruling the roost at Mikey & Me, and he's ready to steal some hearts! ❤️

This handsome, 65-pound bundle of love is just 1–2 years old, and he's got the personality to match his unforgettable name!
Rooster is the kind of guy who has never met a stranger. He loves making new friends, gets along well with other dogs, and believes that personal space is overrated. 😂 ❤️

In fact, one of his favorite things to do is stand up and give you a BIG Rooster hug! 🤗

❤️ Personality: Sweet, loving, friendly, and full of charm!

Rooster is already neutered, fully vaccinated, and may even be potty trained! He's also done well on his recent physical exam.
