My Puppy Journey (Part 3):

I stood on my front porch cradeling my newest puppy - just enjoying the crisp, Fall breeze on my face. A sense of melancholy suddenly overwhelmed me. My memories had taken me to a very dark place... the last puppy I kept back for myself & later had to bury ( my first experience with "fading Puppy syndrome" - when for no apparent reason to myself or the vet, just stopped eating & none of our heroic efforts could bring her back!) Then, another puppy ( either born with or injured by ? developed water on the brain!) Before becoming a "Breeder", I had never seen such things! I didn't know about Cocidia or Giardia or Parvo! I had never even imagined that my joy might be measured by the consistency of a puppy's p**p!
Then, I heard the word "Autumn" - carried on the breeze and instantly knew this was her name. As I sighed fair well to these sad memories, I spoke outloud into the wind, "Yet, I will praise my God again!" Lifting my voice higher, unconcerned that my neighbors might hear, I shouted toward heaven, " As long as there is a breath in me, I will praise my God!"
I walked back into the house and placed "Autumn Praise" into the play area. I know that it is "Autumn" for Me - weather about my Puppy Journey or my Life or both... I pray, " God, Thy will be done!"

My Puppy Journey (Part 3)
I had wanted a Toy Poodle since I was around 10 years of age, because my Aunt had one that she dyed pink and what little girl wouldn't want a tiny, pink Poodle?
I knew that a lot of people were getting Poodle mixed pets, so I had decided I would raise Shih-poos - Shih-tzus being the only other small breed I had had experience with. I reasoned that the Shih-tzu breed could benefit greatly by having a longer nose, which makes breathing easier.
As funds would allow, I added more female Shih-tzus: Joy, Hope & Charity.
I was ill prepared for the demands of caring for multiple dogs in the humane fashion I felt they deserved. Soon, my home wreaked of puppy urine & f***s despite my constant cleaning! I found it necessary to expand into the garage & back yard in order to save my home.
COVID hit and prices soared! I was finally making a little profit. No church, very rare visits, shopping on line - delivery trucks lined the streets! I decided to re-invest into my "hobby" - more fencing & cross fencing, more pens in the garage. There was no longer room for storage or my car. A shed was filled, unused things given away and a plan was made to add a carport or garage - in the future.
(That is still in my plans)
I think God, every day for my patient, loving husband, who just goes with the flow as he watches me weather the huge storm in my life that continues to rage on -always in the background, always present!

My Puppy Journey (Part 2)
A few months after getting Solomon, I happened upon 3 little Shih-tzu sisters and just had to bring them ALL home! I couldn't choose between them & didn't have the heart to separate them!
I found myself searching for the right names for these beautiful girls. They meant so much more to me than being future breeders. God had led me to them to fill a deep need - not just in my heart, but in my soul!
I used to sing - all the time! I used to be happy & felt so blessed! But, the recent tragedies I had experienced had become too much to bare! I had grown sad & apathetic and had completely isolated myself from MY WORLD!
COVID hit & made it easy, but was not my reason for being alone. I had stopped trusting - Anyone! Ones that I might have confided in before were unavailable or had died! I didn't have the will to reach out & try to make new friends. I preferred to be alone and suffer- alone! Perhaps, I even thought I deserved it!
So, God asked me what I wanted that would be able to fill this huge abyss in my heart, my soul, my life. I told Him I wanted to sing again; I wanted to feel harmony in my home & to be at peace within myself.
Hence, my little girls were named: Melody, Harmony & Serenity, as a symbol of my faith that God would restore all these things to my life that had been stolen from me.

My Puppy Journey:
A few years back life hit me hard - knocked the breath out of me for quite a long while. I thought I would never recover!
Then, sweet memories of some of my dearest "friends" began to flood my mind. These were precious little creatures that God had sent my way throughout my very rough childhood days .. an abandoned kitten, a tiny puppy, who had lost its way, a beautiful pony, baby goats, and even a 1000 pound steer I raised in 4-H.
Thus, I decided to start raising tiny puppies that would become best friends & comforters for their new families!
I've sought God for Wisdom & direction all my life. I knew that if I was to succeed I would need His Wisdom now. So, I named my first puppy Solomon to represent my faith that God would give me Wisdom. To be continued ...
