TRACTORSTUCK - Parody of Thunderstruck by AC/DC

Watch all 17 of our farm parodies here: http://www.youtube.com/PetersonFarmBros

The underlying message of this video: Sometimes in life...we get our tractor stuck! Sometimes literally on the farm and sometimes figuratively in life. Lots of farm families (and people outside of farming as well) are undergoing tough times right now. Rising inputs. Low market prices. Severe weather. Consumer push back. It can feel like when you get a tractor stuck. You are frustrated, angry, kicking the tires, wondering how you got in this mess and how in the world you are going to fix it. This video is a humorous reminder that farming is full of problems and fixing those problems. It always has been. And someone usually has it worse off than you. There is always much to be thankful for! You can choose to sit in your problems and frustration and be angry and negative. Or you can focus on the positive, what is going right, and do your best to figure out how to solve the problems you face. Sometimes you can't pull the tractor out/solve the problem by yourself. It's okay to call and ask a friend or family member for help. Sometimes getting help can be the best/most productive thing you can do.

It's important to remember that the tractor will get pulled out. There is always hope for better times. And someday you can even look back on the hard times and laugh knowing that it made you stronger. Farming is cyclical. And tough times have been a part of farming for centuries. The good times will return. In the meantime keep pressing on, do your best, appreciate the people close to you, and think positive. Remember that the success of your farm doesn't define your worth as a human being. We should be thankful for every day we get live our life on the farm, even if the farm is sold one day! We are all fortunate!

Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (ODWC)

The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation has submitted samples from 50 wild, whitetail deer in the immediate vicinity of the Lincoln County site where a farmed elk tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in April 2019. CWD was not detected in any of those 50 samples. The Wildlife Department will continue to work closely with the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry in monitoring for the disease in the state’s wild and farmed cervid herds and will provide information to the public as it becomes available.

First Female Manager Takes Over Oklahoma National Stockyards

The change in management represents a trend overall in agriculture, more female farmers and ranchers entering the industry.

STOCKYARDS CITY, Oklahoma - For over a century, men have served as the general manager of the Oklahoma National Stockyards. This year, that came to an end.

Kelli Payne, 43, became the Stockyards’ first female general manager in its 109-year history. Payne took leadership in April.

“They’ve known me since I was a little kid and they know I am not afraid to work,” said Payne. “You clean a lot of tanks, you scrape a lot of manure out of the pens, it all just pays off.”

“It is very humbling and truly a privilege to represent the Oklahoma National Stockyards in this capacity,” said Payne.

The change in management represents a trend overall in agriculture, more female farmers and ranchers entering the industry.

It's a title Payne doesn't take lightly.

“It is a challenge to get some things fixed, all the pens are wooden, and we are coming back in with some pipe,” said Payne. “We've updated with some paint, just some things to make it a little more presentable. It is still a stockyard, but we are still proud of it.”

The Oklahoma National Stockyards has now hired six general managers. It is the longest running auction house in the state of Oklahoma.

The stockyard is made up on 100 total acres, 40 acres consists of pens.

There is a passion burning inside the hard-working men and women of the stockyard. A passion at the state's longest running auction house, to keep it that way.

“We’re on track to sell well over 400,000 head of cattle this year,” said Payne. “With steady and efficient service, we are going to get to half a million hopefully within the next few years.”

Ranchers can drop off cattle at the Oklahoma Stockyards at any time.

Sales take place on Mondays and Tuesdays.
