Just a bunch of silly pups 🐶😄

Zoomies, goofy faces, mismatched ears, and tongues out in every direction. This is what a day with our crew looks like, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Here’s the thing about the silly side: a dog who’s relaxed and happy learns faster. Play builds trust, burns off the energy that gets in the way of focus, and shows us who each dog really is, so we can train them in a way that actually fits their personality. 🐾

Training works best when dogs get to be dogs. Structure and silliness can absolutely go hand in hand.

At Ridgeside K9 Charlottesville, every dog is special; we’re committed to training them all. How can the Ridgeside K9 Charlottesville Team assist you with your dog training needs?

On leash... or off, we got you 🐾

Every one of these clips is off leash training, and that’s the point. Whether your dog is clipped in on a neighborhood walk or trusted to roam free on a trail, the skills have to hold up either way.

Off leash reliability is built on the same foundation as everything else we teach: a solid recall, strong impulse control, and a dog who stays tuned in to you with distractions all around. We build those skills step by step, so your dog is dependable in any situation, not just when the leash is on.

Then we teach you how to keep it going at home, so the freedom you see here becomes your everyday reality. 🌲

🐾 Welcome Moose, Remi and their amazing family to the Ridgeside K9 Charlottesville family! 🐾

Meet Moose & Remi, who joined us at Ridgeside K9 Charlottesville for professional dog training. Before enrolling in our 3-Week Board & Train program, their family reached out for assistance with their reactivity towards each other, general obedience, impulse control, and building reliable off-leash training in real-world environments.

Our experienced dog trainers focused on slowing things down, reinforcing clear boundaries, and building confidence through structured training. By combining obedience, engagement, and accountability, they made impressive progress in their time with us.

During their board and train program, they worked extensively on leash manners, impulse control, recall, and engagement both on and off leash. Watching them gain confidence while still enjoying the freedom to be a dog is exactly what professional dog training in Charlottesville, VA is all about. We are incredibly proud of the strong foundation Moose & Remi built during their stay with us.

Labels don’t define you or your pup! Remember to shut out the noise and continue forward, one step at a time 💪

On paper and certain folks, Shadow should have been put down, but we all refused to accept that outcome.

Fast forward a few weeks, and she is living her best life 🤩

Happy Halloween from Ridgeside K9 Charlottesville! 🎃🐾

Wishing you and your pup a safe and spooky night! Halloween can be exciting, and a little overwhelming, for dogs, so here are a few tips to keep tonight fun for everyone:

🎃 Keep candy out of reach: chocolate, xylitol (sugar-free candy and gum), and wrappers can all be dangerous for dogs
🎃 Give your pup a calm space: a quiet room, crate, or their place spot away from the door can help when the doorbell keeps ringing
🎃 Leash up at the door: even well-trained dogs can bolt when the door opens again and again
🎃 Make sure costumes are comfortable: nothing that restricts movement, vision, or breathing, and take it off if your dog seems stressed
🎃 Check ID tags and microchip info: just in case your pup slips out
🎃 Keep glow sticks, candles, and decorations out of reach: curious mouths and wagging tails don’t mix well with them

If your pup struggles with doorbell chaos or guests tonight, place work can make a world of difference, and it’s something we’d love to help you build. 🐕

Stay safe, have fun, and happy Halloween!
