I grew up fishing Canada waters as a teenager with my dad and brother, the longest trip being Flin Flon, Saskatchewan which is an 18hr drive straight through. A couple trips were made with Grandpa and Grandma Landegent when they were alive and many other family trips mixed in. Everyone always asks "Why would you drive 10 hours to catch walleyes?" The simple answer is its a vacation and fishing Canada has a special place in my heart. We fished Lake of the Woods, Ontario this trip again. There is more to offer out there than SD fishing, not to mention the spectacular views of the hundreds of islands and unlimited opportunities in the Ontario waters of the lake. Diana landed a 40", 37", and 33" pike this trip. We caught 219 fish on the boat clicker in 4.5 days of fishing including mostly walleye with pike and small mouth bass mixed in. Live bait is illegal in Ontario so we mainly utilized plastic baits and some cranks. The fish are big and healthy and Lake of the Woods has one of the best fishing opportunities in the states if you fish the Minnesota side. You have to fish LOW at least once to appreciate the beauty and what it has to offer. Spending time with Diana, Mom, and Dad makes a trip like this all the better. Looking forward to the next fishing adventure.
