We strive to breed for the ideal ranch horse and we raise high-yielding commercial black angus cattle as well as putting up the finest hay for our livestock. looking for "the whole package". Athleticism, sound conformation, balance, bone and adequate hoof are important factors to us on the outside. On the inside, we are seeking genetically clean horses who also possess trainable minds and brave hearts. To top it all off, on paper we are looking for lines who consistently possess the conformation and minds we are looking for. Specifically, quarter horse mares who stem from a strong family tree of show horses. Horses who have successfully been ridden and trained prove to the breeders they possess the ability to be willing partners. These legendary horses have consistently produced horses with athletic ability and cow sense. We diversify our herd by AI'ing to the industries leading cutting/cowhorse stallions. However, we also have a resident stallion who is a Percheron who has a kind personality and a work ethic larger than life. He adds the bone and substance with a cool, calm mind. With these factors in mind, the "perfect ranch horse" is born, with color to boot! Right here at Legend Buttes Bloodstock! Not only are our horses born and raised here, they are also trained on our ranch. They are exposed to rough terrain, creeks, and wildlife before we ever saddle them up! Using Natural Horsemanship methods, we train our horses to bravely navigate rough terrain in any weather, gather and sort cattle, trail ride, and rope. We can tell you everything about these horses from their first breath to their first ride and everywhere in between. We care for our horses like athletes and treat them as team members. They receive excellent care with balanced diets, plenty of room to run and play, and routine vaccinations, deworming and veterinary visits. Rest assured, you will find what you are looking for in a reliable partner here! Our cattle operation consists of high-quality black angus cattle. We are a cow-calf operation that strives to raise cattle who can travel while still reaching gain goals. We look for good maternal instinct with high weaning weights. Our bull power is derived from a mix of local breeders as well as AI influence of industry leading bulls. Both our horses and cattle are fed high quality hay that we raise and put up on both dryland and irrigated ground. We can't wait to welcome you to the ranch!
