After 36 hours of waxing, Holly(boonsmal) gave us a GORGEOUS black filly and Preacher stamped her with some chrome! All we had to do is leave to pickup some Hashtags Semen for her to foal! She was sick of being watched 😂

More details to come about her AND the THREE foals we have had born since we last updated you! Things have been busy!

We are officially over halfway done foaling! The 7th foal to hit the ground is our last foal for the year by our junior sire Doc Holliday Dun It by Holidoc. This beautiful Dun (Dunskin?) stud c**t is SO friendly! He is already nickering and wanting attention!

Pistolicious is a neat mare by a maternal brother to Playgun through Miss Silver Pistol with a strong Pepto bottom side.

We are very excited about this foal! Several more mares are nearing foaling and May will keep us plenty busy as we get into breeding season full swing and finish foaling!

𝙸𝚝'𝚜 𝚊 𝙱𝙾𝚈

Boons Hollywood White had a beautiful and HUGE Dun stud c**t (maybe dunskin 👀). It was an uncomplicated 10:30 pm birth where mare and foal hit all their milestones!

We are very happy to have another healthy foal on the ground and thrilled to have another foal from "Jellybean". She truly is one of the best and most consistent producer of good-sized, stout horses with beautiful heads and big hips who can stop, spin, cow and run!

She perfectly compliments ONE TIME Pepto a producer of over $26 million in the cutting, cowhorse and roping arenas!

She will be bred back to $11 million dollar sire Bet Hesa Cat.

They say that c**ts go longer gestation than fillies, and historically we have seen that to be true. Here is a few years of “Jellybean’s” (Boons Hollywood White) gestational length.

She is currently at 348 and wide as truck!

2021: 335 days - filly
2022: 342 days - stud
2023: 337 days- stud
2024: 334 days - filly

What do 🆈🅾🆄 think she will have?! Her pH has dropped and calcium has spiked so we are ready for what ever she delivers! This foal will be by the legendary $24 million dollar sire ONE TIME Pepto!

𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐕𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲

Some of the most important people in my life are my vets. From general care and advice, to life-saving procedures and.. sometimes a shoulder to cry on, our vets mean the world to us! Dr Rob Reid and Dr Charmayne Strong I consider amazing vets and dear friends. I knew Dr Reid since I was 6 years old when he trimmed horses and started c**ts for my dad and ate lunch with Dr Strong every day in school and hearing her talk about her dreams of being a vet(which are now reality). I literally couldn’t live without them!

Many other vets have positively influenced our lives and we thank them all today!

From January --> to April....Red Boon Risin transitions seamlessly from the show pen to the branding pen. He is always willing to please, calm and confident and he is passing that along to his foals! He is expecting 10 foals this year and 3 are already on the ground! He is booked full again this year and we look forward to breeding season starting this week!

Very important info! As a horse owner, its important to be proficient in administering IV Banamine (proper name flunixin meglumine). It can offer quick relief from colic or injuries. Having an excellent working relationship with your vet is key to having this on hand. Oral medication is also available and very user friendly, although takes a little longer to be absorbed and work.

We have done a little of all methods of breeding from the traditional live cover that never seems to fail to the delicate and fascinating process of ICSI and even IVF. However, we also LOVE studies and education. This is a great study and we hope experts in the equine field keep researching!

💥ISSR Snippet! 🐴 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐍𝐀 𝐃𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐦 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

Background & Purpose

Preserving s***m DNA integrity is critical for equine assisted reproduction. Above 15°C storage methods have emerged to reduce cold shock, but oxidative stress during preservation can cause DNA damage. This study compared the S***m Chromatin Structure Assay (SCSA) and the neutral comet assay in detecting DNA damage across different preservation methods.

Study Design

• 3 split ej******es from individual stallions
• High-quality s***m isolated via single-layer colloidal centrifugation
• Three treatments: cryopreservation (L-EDTA + egg yolk + dimethylformamide), chilled at 5°C (EquiPlus), and stored at 18°C (S***mSafe)
• Both assays performed at multiple timepoints

Key Findings

• SCSA detected no significant DNA damage under any condition
• Comet assay was more sensitive, detecting significant damage in:
► S***mSafe at 72h (tail intensity ~21% → ~54%)
► Post-cryopreservation (tail intensity more than tripled ~21% → ~67%)
• Chilled EquiPlus samples showed no significant damage at any timepoint

Notable Observations

• High DNA damage in S***mSafe-stored s***m was unexpected given reportedly high commercial pregnancy rates
• Authors hypothesize this may reflect capacitation-like changes — S***mSafe mimics oviduct fluid and may cause chromatin decondensation rather than true DNA damage
• Post-thaw cryopreservation damage may reflect a similar artifact or genuine damage contributing to lower pregnancy rates with frozen-thawed s***m

Conclusions

• Comet assay proved more sensitive than SCSA despite small sample size (n=3)
• The two assays likely offer complementary prognostic value
• S***mSafe findings highlight how preservation media chemistry may influence assay results
