What an awesome first week in the mountains.

We came here hoping to get Matthew Slaydon — a blind veteran — on his first elk. It didn’t happen, but on the last evening, in the final hour, his wife who also had a tag made it happen.

Her first elk ever — and what a bull it was. The excitement, the emotion, the celebration… you couldn’t have scripted it better.

Can’t even put into words how special it was to witness. This trip was bigger than any tag.

These are the moments that define The Sentinel Project — using the outdoors to heal, connect, and remind our heroes that their story still matters. 🦌🇺🇸

The Elk haven’t played the script yet in Colorado but we’ve got a good heard in the area and a few more days to make something happen. We will see what the man up stairs has planned for us.

Howdy everyone, as many of you have seen a brief glimpse at what this project is supporting- I wanted to ask a favor. I am lined up to capture some truly amazing moments on camera this fall, I’m talking elk in not only Colorado but KENTUCKY too! And as blessed as I am to receive these offers, I can’t forget about my mission of growing a hat company to support them. So go check out the hats I’ve built at the link below! And remember, these things stand for a lot more than any other hat you own. Thanks!

Premium lifestyle hats built for nights out and the outdoors. Every purchase fuels healing and brotherhood for America’s veterans.

Hunting has a way of healing—again and again. Especially for those who’ve already endured life-changing moments.

Both of these warriors—Cpl. Matt Bradford and TSgt. Matt Slaydon—were catastrophically wounded by IED blasts in Iraq. Both are amputees. Both are completely blind. Yet both stepped into the woods with courage most of us can only imagine.

Filming it was one of the most humbling challenges I’ve ever faced—juggling cameras, capturing every moment, and still guiding Matt through the shot. Thanks to ATN scopes, Salt River outfitters, and Jason’s Box for allowing this to happen.

Afterward, Matt Slaydon said something I’ll never forget: “I feel as if something in me has healed from this experience.”

That’s what this is all about.

Turns out and Matthew Slaydon are lean mean hunting machines! We’re putting in the hours this week through super hot temps to send an arrow down range and etch another memory in the bank.
